Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. (And that was my goal, to be like "hey, this song fits this completely unrelated story. Let's make sure everyone sees how well it fits." Now if only it didn't take so long...)
What I love is how, at the start they're separated from others who are outside the window/the walls of the institute, and how in the scenes of them inside the institute, behind a window, they're either alone or isolating themselves at the start. But Tessa's "step out of the sun" at 1:42 has a more hopeful tone than before, and it seems more like self care than isolation? She's been hurt, and now she's finding a safe place? And from then on, with a few exceptions, they're not alone by the windows any more? Her reading the Codex could be a positive thing, and in the scene with Will, the POV is actually from outside so it's like the viewer is outside looking in at the happiness they're going to find? Then 2:18, again, we're looking in, and it's sad, they're alone BUT you know that there's nothing separating them from being with each other besides their own doubts? They're in the same room, and there's warm lighting, and they seem kinda united. And then of course it goes horrendously sad again, but i'm just saying - Jem collapsing and Tessa getting kidnapped happen outside of the institute, not in? And I love that even in this part the three of them are drawing emotionally closer. So then at 3:38 Will and Tessa are in the same frame, but she also has the strength or something? Or just the love, to reach to Jem and pull him past that imaginary divide, so that the three of them can be together. Of course, 3:15 is still immensely sad (and cold light to symbolise it), but I love how in canon we know they do find their ways around Jem being a silent brother, a lot of the time inviting him to the Institute which is when they get to be together! And this has been such a huge ramble and i'm not sure how coherent this is, but anyway i absolutely love it
Thank you very much! I love getting comments like this because I love to hear what little details people pick up on that were slipped in there. Sometimes even unintentional ones. At 2:18 you're spot on, that was what I was aiming for - they still have everything that made them alone in the first place, but at least they have each other. It's also meant to be a companion/foil panel to the last few (the only other ones with only silhouettes) to make it a contrast that they're finally standing all three together in the same window. Will and Tessa absolutely will drag Jem over to where they are, no matter what, and I like that about the three of them a lot. The cold lighting at 3:15 (also glad you picked up on that) is more for Jem's sudden lack of emotion and feeling that he used to have so much of in panels like 0:37 and 1:04, and even in pain in 2:36 he still feels very strongly and has the light to show for it. Now that he's detached from his own feelings, everything's grayer and paler. Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate it.
This is absolutely incredible!!!!!!!!!!! I can't fathom the amount of work that must have gone into this. Your art is gorgeous! And I loved how you fitted the lyrics to the characters. I was screaming in my head at the end, GO TO JEM. DON'T LEAVE HIM ALONE. And when he came over, boiiiii I died. That was too much for my herongraystairs soul. The overall message is so great, that they do make a sound and that those three will always care and come for them and do their best to make their friend happy again. It's so good and wholesome, I just ;-;
Thank you so much!! Yeah, I couldn't bear to give them a sad ending (or to leave Jem alone) They have enough pain in their lives in canon, they don't need any more. I appreciate the comment :)
@@lollydolly4590 SAAAAAAAAAME. That part with Jem hurt and Jessamine bleeding....I'm mentally sobbing. I think I need a therapist who knows what the Infernal Devices are.
Jeesh I started tearing up at the end.
It was beautiful ❤️✨
this is so amazing. Every frame is so intricate and well drawn. And I never realized how perfectly this song fits with TID! amazing job
