- My first solo motorcycle tour through Europe, on my Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer. Leaving all the gear at the campsite, I could ride around the Dolomites without all the luggage.
Crossing the mountain passes, passo Giau, Fedaia, Sella and Gardena before riding back to Cortina d'Ampezzo, for a motorcycle tour of the Dolomites.
It rained a lot in the afternoon.
Wow, you were so unlucky with the weather but at the same time those clouds over the mountains looked spectacular.
If it wasn't the rain, it was road works. 😁
Great video, awesome scenery.
@@rayclargo4428 thanks for the compliment.
I still get goosebumps looking at the footage myself. I can't decide if the weather being as it was, contributed to the majestic nature of those mountains.
In nice sunshine would it feel different?
(Other than me being dry and not complaining about the rain) 😁
Thx
G
I'm really enjoying your trip, i went to France then Germany for a week round the Black Forest with friends in September. It was amazing. I would like to do something similar to what you've done. I'm looking forward to catching up on the rest of your Adventure....
Always carry an extra pair of gloves in case it rains.
All the best, John
@@billyblooddrop thanks John.
I travelled up through the black forest, but some of it was closed so I didn't do what I intended.
I'll certainly be going back even if it's just a short trip.
I did have a second pair of gloves. They're wet as well 😁
Thx
G
Good job... thanks
@@sabrisen1976 thank you.
Nice one. Sella pass was covered in snow 10 days later when I rode through!!!
@@Bighitter786 yeah, the bad weather did come through not long after I'd left.
Great video.. missed the Dolomites on my way to Slovenia this year. Need to go back and do them next time 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment.
Slovenia is very nice, driven there few times but never been there on a motorcycle.
I'll certainly be back to the Dolomites, as there's plenty of roads that I could have taken.
The weather was a bit naff, so I was getting a bit fed up with the rain. Next time, I'll stay longer so at least have one day where the weather is nice. 😁
Thx
G
@ I was there at the beginning of September this year and was very lucky, as the weather was amazing. Just watching your next episode and reminiscing about the Stelvio. What an amazing road. You can see why it’s so popular.
@@AdventuRemedy yeah at the time I was thinking to myself, done it, don't need to do it again.
Several months have passed now, so I'd do Stelvio again, this time spend some more time at the top, get a coffee, look at shops etc.
I kinda went up and over quickly.
Nervous anxiety, running late, who knows. Feel better about it now. 😁
if i,m correct ,the weather on the dolemites is influeced bij the adreatic sea ,wet clouds wil flow over the dolemites or not (go back) if it flows over, it flow to the german mosel (not the eifel )and give even there warm air (and good wine ) so the bad weater is before or gone over the dolemites rain for 2or 3 day,s ??? . there is maybe a choice to ride with/out rain?🤔
same on the mosel, stay at the mosel if the weater is mostly dry and good there, you can ride easely from mosel treu the eifel if it has dry weather predictions for that day .
@@wilco1v this weather, I watched on the weather radar on my phone, so could avoid where I could.
Thanks for the information, so the next time I visit I'll know.
Are you running standard tyres on your Tiger? I find them very noisy on my 1200 Rally Explorer and am thinking about trying something else.
@@Colinfellows-z6i yes.
The GT Explorer came with the metzeler tourance next 2 tyres. I'm finding them great. They're a little squared off after this trip but plenty of tread left before the wear mark. I've done about 5600 miles on them from new an they are probably good for another 2 or 3k.
The Rally comes with the Karoo Street tyres doesn't it? They're like an 80/20 off-road I think. Definitely noisy because of the tread.
Hope that helps.
Thx

@@AManAstray thank you for your helpful reply. I'm going for a pair of road biased tyres as I don't really go off road.
Be goid if named the rd number and towns from and too... if u sped up ya tyres may warm up lol
@kevinmill7965 ha ha.
In my defence it looks slower on YT than it was in real life.
A couple of times, the bike twitched because of crap on the roads, so because I didn't know where I was, foreign country, etc. I was more cautious than I would be at home.
I'm no speed demon, but not slow.
A few times on the trip, I did think to myself how I could get my Triumph Speed Triple 1050RS on these roads, a lighter bike, and more fun....but the tyres would be gone by the time I'd ride there.
Maybe put it in a trailer like those I saw on the autobahn in Germany 😁😎
I thought about naming the roads, but I'd have to look that up first. Sometimes I try and leave the village name in the video so people can look it up themselves.
I'll think about it for the next tour.
