Feeding a rescued baby robin

- We found this baby robin laying on our sidewalk the other night, having fallen from our giant oak tree. The tree is well over 100' tall with the 1st branches starting at the attic level of our 3 story house (very high) so there was no chance of getting it back into it's nest, wherever that was... Faced with the dilemma of leaving it outside on the ground where it certainly would have died (it obviously is too soon for it to have flown away as most of it's feathers are not in yet) or taking on the chore of feeding a wild bird, I now have to cut up worms every 20-60 minutes for a very demanding creature. I guess that saying of "any port in a storm" is true as this little guy had no issues being taken in by humans. At first I tried handing it worm pieces with my fingers but that proved very difficult due to them sticking to my hand and this guy going berserk at feeding time. It was also interesting that I dug up 1/2 my yard and did not find a single worm, usually they are all over the place when I am not needing any... I will try to get him somewhere outside pretty soon so that it can fly away when ready, hopefully not too far out but I am a bit nervous as the ones I've watched outside seems to get motivated to leave the nest once the parents stop feeding them.
