    Hi Hector
    I my company , we have several by-products from the main product. We sell those at a lower value, but still their value is above the materiality threshold of the company. So I want to know how to treat those by-product in assembly or how we should take into account in assembly.

    Hello Hector, first I want to say I'm so glad to find your videos. We own a manufacturing company and I took over the bookkeeping after outsourcing it. You've cleared up a lot of questions. But, I do have one for you, hoping you can help. We have desktop Premier Plus Mfg. Wondering if I can use assemblies with sub items to have product varieties. Our BOM is large and the only item changing between 4 or so varieties is the color of the molded parts. Could I do one parent assembly and then have a sub item for each color? Would it have just the molded part in it or would I have to have all the BOM on that item too. Thinking it would be easier if an item changes to change in the parent instead of all 4 parts. Also, we have products that are sold to distributors and although they are the same part (sku), we'd like to track them differently than the ones that we sell direct. Since I don't want to "assemble" a dealer version, wondering how to handle that. Your help is greatly appreciated!

    I know this is an old video and hopefully someone can answer this question. I have the same sort of setup and at the very end of the video 26:35 you make the build for the chandelier when I do that I have 2 entries in my QBs desktop file and support hasn't been able to answer why or how to fix it. I get a credit to WIP debit to Final and then another entry that credits Final and debits COGS and I am not doing any sort of sale, just building an assembly. Is this how it worked when you did this video, is that normal? Then, just to confuse it further, if I do then make an invoice and complete the sale for the nested build, there is a zero dollar entry between Final and COGS.

    Thank you for this instruction. We are using Enterprise with Advanced Inventory, having assemblies within assemblies and have confusion how inventory is pulling from various sites. It's hard to know whether you are building to a bin or from a bin. Especially when you build "to" a site and bin at the top, and have to break it down per line item within the form.

    I do have one question though: When you're adding items (which will later be put into an assembly), is it okay to leave the "Sales Price" field blank? I suspect so as they allow you to; however, I cannot find confirmation anywhere. This should not throw something off somewhere down the line since these items are never pieced out individually.... right?? I hope my question makes sense! :) Thank you again!!

    Hi, Hector. I think you missed out to discuss also the site list and the transfer of item here wherein the raw materials and/or sub-assemblies are not stored in the production department.
    And Pending Builds has to be avoided in the real world because it will give an additional cost/loss and will hamper the production output level of the Company. Since a certain Company has Production Plan for their confirmed orders, therefore, when setting up the Inventory Part, it must have the Reorder Point min/max number of items both in the Production Site and Warehouse Site to comply with the Production Department Production Plan by the Purchasing Department/Warehouse Department, thus, avoiding future overruns of cost and avoidance of losses.

    Hi Hector,
    I hope you can help me. I am using SKU numbers for my Item numbers in QB. When I "build assemblies" from WIP to Finished Goods. The finished goods asset account on the balance sheet is debited and the WIP account on the balance sheet is credited. That's all good, but the inventory center (where my SKU # (QB Item Number) does not show that the quantity has been updated. On the Inventory Stock Status report, they are shown in the Assembly category.
    Do I need to do something else after I "build assembly" to get QB to update my quantity in the inventory center showing that I have more products available?
    Thanks so much!

    ASSEMBLY
    In Inventory Stock I have Product A = Qty 1 , Product B = Qty 2

    Whether in the stock inventory will be formed as follows:
    Product Z = 1
    Product A = 0
    Product B = 0
    DISASSEMBLY
    In Inventory Stock I have Product Z = Qty 1 and then I did disassembly Product Z
    Whether in the stock inventory will be formed as follows:

    I have a production output efficiency of 90%. When I do the build assembly it gives us the cost based on 100% production output efficiency, but in reality, there is some 10% scrap generation which is of no use. How to enter a production efficiency in the system so that my 100% cost spread on 90% of the production output.

    Very informative. In Enterprise, I set up a use car dealership using assemblies to add all the cost to the finished product. The non-inventory items such as transport, detailing, mechanical service and body work. The costs of the non-inventory items can change daily depending on the vehicle. What frustrates me is if I enter all the components and build the assembly . Then I find that I have to add an item to the original build. When I delete the assembly build and go to the assembly item all the cost have changed from the original costs entered due to the daily changing costs of the non inventory items being billed and paid. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong.

      Claudia Cox don’t use Assemblies for used cars... use a unique inventory part for each and adjust the value as you go.

    • @rexespiritu6153
      @rexespiritu6153 6 лет назад

      Hi Claudia, the "Inventory Assembly" Item in the Inventory List pertains to products to be built/produced in a manufacturing type of business. Since you are engaged in a Used Car Dealership, therefore, the Standard Costing procedures in Cost Accounting shall apply. For costing purposes, you can do it first in Excel to arrive at the new cost of a certain car in bringing them into the good shape and/or perfect condition.
      All these used cars will be part of your Inventory at the Balance Sheet - FG USED CARS and will be entered either individually or by batch in the Item list as "INVENTORY PART".

    • @rexespiritu6153
      @rexespiritu6153 6 лет назад

      Definitely, if you changed occassionally the cost of the non-inventory items that forms part also of the BOM of your finished goods, therefore, the cost of the Assembly Item will also be affected thru cost updating.

      In reality or in the production process, why you need un-assemble the assembled items? Very costly! Build Assembly or Production Report (Daily) is just the support or recording process in the producing such a Finished Goods and or Sub-Assemblies. I think it is illogical to disassemble it. Therefore, it might be considered as Scrap Materials and needs to make an Adjustment and create an account in the Chart of Account to record these scrap materials.
