The 80s and 90s were pretty epic as a kid. No cell phones. There wasn’t a problem so pressing that it couldn’t wait until you got home and your mom relayed a message from a phone call or whatever. Things were a lot slower. Kids played outside with other kids. We made dubious ramps in the middle of the street to jump on our bikes over and took our falls, cuts and chipped teeth like champs. Families had one parent working and it was usually enough to live in a home. Reagan was in charge and our enemies knew better than to test us. Shortly after we felt victorious when the Soviets folded and the world was largely under decent management (I know it depends who you ask but in the US we were safe and respected) Then we were lied to and told that computers and personal phones would make our lives easier. Now they enslave us into producing more as we work even greater hours. They told us women should be liberated from the homes and families so now they tax each home double with both incomes instead of the one. I write this from an office where I commonly work 10-14 hour days and still can’t afford a home. Were the 80s better? Yes. We were optimistic. Now I know better.
