just hearing his voice calms me so much
yea , his voice is so cold. lol
His singing voice is just as good.😄
literally
@@chroni.kel20 most ppl from around where he came from ( and where i live lol ) sound like that
hes so fine omg 🦶🏽
If u close eyes, Lil Wayne is talking with little bit British accent..
hahahahaaaa so true!
I can’t unhear this now
lmao
how do I unread this
he’s so pure. i saw him at radio city and it was the best experience of my life. i wish him all the success in the world
Pure??? Not to sure about that one
This didnt age well
@@sratus He is indeed very pure and innocent. Falsely accused of a Crime, now the truth came to light and we all can agree he's still the cute innocent boy that we all love to listen to. I hope he can deal with what happened in a healthy way.
@@bstrouble YOUR COMMENT didn’t age well😂
@@sratus allegations are false
I would give anything to meet this guy
i met him in a restaurant once lol
@@davidhartley94 Lucky!! Was he nice?
@@sofiaoshea7220 yeah he was cool. i think he was having a meeting with an executive or something. looking back it was probably a bit rude of me to interrupt him. it was more of a bar than a formal restaurant so everyone was chatting anyway. it was a couple of years ago and he wasn't super well known at the time. he asked my name and shook my hand. cool guy.
The interviewer did a great job making this completely conversational, I didn't feel any awkwardness going on between them at any point. Kudos man
I don’t get what everyone’s got against the interviewer, this just seems like a chill conversation. They’re just talking about music, very casually might I add and they both seem very natural. I’m not really sure what anyone’s expecting out of a music interview, chill out.
Alex is by far my favorite artist, I’ve had many phases of music, but Rex orange county has not only saved me but also is an incredible unique artist with a true heart. If you have the chance: Go watch him live you will have the time of your live❤️
Used to see Rex around where I lived in Guildford.
DangerGrainge big up guildford
surrey to hear that
Nice interview, deeper than the rest. Saw Rex at the Fox with my daughter, just a 59 year old mom with her 17 year old daughter, and we BOTH had a fantastic time! Love his melodies and such a good soul!
What he said about pianist having an advantage I feel is so true. I wish id learnt the piano when I was younger cus the understanding of music theory u get with that is so much quicker I feel
i love him so so much. i saw him yesterday in miami and he was amazing. such a great live singer and brilliant song writer. he really cares about his audience and just radiates this positive energy.
I'm so happy.
I don't know.
It just makes me happy when I see my favorite person gets successful.
I'm so proud.
that aged well
@@walkermusic0fficial MMMMMMMMM IDK ABT THAT
The interviewer literally said he doesn't hear a Cmaj7 anymore like its a chord thats never used...
he think its some sort of relic
u can tell rex be uncomfortable because he says “i can tell u use a lot of maj7 chords... AND min7!!” dude, there’s more than just maj7 and min7 chords.. and it’s used a lot more than u think, but i think what the interviewer was trying to get out was that before indie was rly taking over, mainstream music wasn’t using any jazz progressions much of all
He deserves the whole world to listen his music and love his songs
No one :
But Rex: Mmm-mmm
As a jazz guitarist the whole 'you don't need guitar lessons, just a couple of shapes and where do you go from that?' thing really hurt hahahaha
María Zambrano yeah I think that playing advanced jazz guitar is probably the closest thing outside of fingerstyle arrangements to playing piano because you're simultaneously playing the chord, walking bassline and extraneous melody lines within the scale as well as rhythmic percussive elements sometimes. You could "learn" basic piano with "just a couple of shapes" as well but your playing would lack nuance or any interesting complexity
@@chasezwartz8796 Well said. Guitar is such an incredible instrument.
@@chasezwartz8796 i am very late to your comment, but i just wanted to express my appreciation towards this comment because its so true how advanced piano playing can be, ESPECIALLY when it comes to jazz because there is just so much that you need to know and absolutely think about while playing. Like yes, it could be easy to learn piano and you can have a good understanding of how chords work and stuff, but once you play arrangements that just have you playing bass lines, melody lines, AND v percussive rhythms, its just an entirely different level of musician knowledge and ability. its insane! but that is why i love piano so much.
Rex always sounds like he as a bad throat when he talks.
lol his voice is unique 😊😊
He smokes quite a bit
But u should see him when he's not in interviews and just talking with mates and he talks was say different
That’s just how most british lads talk
surrey voice i live there and most boys in my year speak likekthis lmfaoo
rex is seriously amazing. i’m very proud of how far he’s gone. wish him the best :)
that aged well
@@walkermusic0fficial idk what to say
He's so stable. What a good person to look up to.
"Anything could happen, I could lose my legs"
What a king
Have a rethink on that king comment
guys, we HAVE to start believing in innocence until proven guilty, this man seams awkward, but genuine and kind hearted, lets not put him through the same hell we put MJ and Johnny depp through... lets give it to the courts and be careful in what we believe, I know for a FACT mj and Johnny depp are innocent, if he's guilty, the court will let us know, if he's innocent, he will be vindicated, the truth always comes to light, we are ALL human beings and its a terrifying thought that at one persons word your whole life can be gone, we HAVE to be more careful in our actions and words...
it's so cringe when the interviewer tries to talk about music theory - "i just feel like i don't hear a cmaj7 chord anymore"
Lol
what’s wrong with talking about music theory
@@dayshawna there is clearly nothing wrong with talking about music theory, that's not my point. but the interviewer is making it out that rex is a super unique artist because he uses chords like 'cmaj7' or minor7, but they are the fundamental tones in most jazz/soul/RnB/pop.
nah mate honestly hearing that was the most refreshing thing.. no one discusses it at all in interviews. That convo never arises ever and when it did hear you're like woh thanks for being specific and aware of what youre doing. Tyler mentions chords all the time but is ambiguous about what he acc does so hearing this is like the coolest thing ever to me.
This man tried to explain a minor 4 progression to rex orange county
Why is everyone all of the sudden a fan of him? What’s crazy is how much he’s grown, I knew him since 2017. He was good and now he’s getting the recognition he deserves
my heart 🥺
nice to hear him talking about the music theory behind his tunes
I love that he takes everything so literally, it gave me a good giggle
is it just me or he sound like he's singing while simply talking
Nice one Alex!
soooooo cute, im not ok...i just realized who you were
Phil O'Connor IS THIS REAL :o
@@brian6046 Yes
Most of the people complaining about the interviewer just don't like the fact that he talked about music theory, I get why people would dislike it, but I think he did a great job, most interviewers wouldn't have asked those questions. One of the best interviews I've seen recently, they talked about Alex's music, his influences, his songwriting, collaborations, how it all started. The only thing that was not totally right was about the cmaj7 lol, in the mainstream it's still not that common but it's been used a lot in bedroom pop and other genres, but i understand what he meant .
...Well said!
I only started to play guitar 3 years ago after playing piano first. Dude is spot on. Such an inspiring interview!
Rex is soo adorable
thank you for talkin about chords this was awesome
trevor cole fr it was so interesting, I loved it 🤣
this guys the best person on earth i love him
I get where the interviewer is coming from but literally everybody uses maj7 chords nowadays bruh 😂
i just need rex and a cup of tea to live happy ever after
I love him
I love him and his music so much.
I didnt even recognize his voice was this deep
Love love love Rex so damn much I can say forsure I don’t this interviewer he needs to put his claws away and let my man talk
He is such pure soul
his voice is so unique, I like it
He’s my favourite artist
HE IS SO CUTE
He is like the nicest person i know 😳
the way i luv him
his voice is so calming
OMG WERE JUST THE SAME SITTING IN MY CHILDHOOD BEDROOM AND WRITTING SONGS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE VOICE IWBWOABJA
His voice is just wow♥️
REX AND HIS MUSIC ARE SO UNIQUE IN EVERY WHICH WAY 💗💗💗💗
Lol they're talking about chords structures and music theory and I'm over here sitting on the piano like "quick write that down!"
this interviewer is... different
Im obsessed wit him
Rex maravilhoso 🤧💕
we need another album asap
are you happy with what we got?
oh my god i love him so much
How about now?
yo this interviewer is soooooo smart when it comes to music theory knowledge
not really. a cmaj7 is an extremely common chord in the kind of music rex makes, which he said he "loved"
@@nickedenbach6480 they being sarcastic
i love him
cant wait for his album this year
I think it's coming out on Christmas, he tweeted some stuff yesterday and then deleted
@@Alex-ms1tt Christmas? I wish!! that's weird, I would've gotten tweet notifications but didn't, u sure?
@@kristen2498 well i don't know if it's real, but i saw some screenshots, he supposedly deleted those tweets immediately. i really hope it's not fake and we get the album on Christmas :)))))
@@Alex-ms1tt aw I think they were fake :( but I rlly hope we get the album soon!
I thoroughly enjoyed this
This interviewer should probably switch up his style
hey 2021🎉
his voice is like a song to me omygosh
HIS ACCENT
this feels more like an interrogation than an interview wtf loool this interviewer aint it.
hahaha that's exactly what I was thinking
Nah, he makes it interesting. Most interviews are super surface level
@@bryanguillen9167 agreed, most interviewers wouldn't delve into the theory behind the music. It's not interrogative but more a question about his songwriting process, which is more interesting (to me at least) than just calling him 'indie'.
legit i thought it was just me he sounded so pressured
He went to the same school I'm going to now, my sisters girlfriend brothers girlfriend was in his tutor, 😅 and he didn't go to a high school he went to a secondary school
'for anyone that's listening, minor7s are tonalities you will find in yatch rock or easy-listening music' HAHAHA
interviewer clearly doesn't know much about him, he's reading off basic facts about his career which he could've remembered from basic preparation/research. feels uncomfortable and interrogation-y like others have said
.. The interviewer is really bad. trying to get him to talk about one thing rather than listening to what he's saying
Tf u on about
What do you mean
i think he means when they were talking about tyler rex said "ive said this so many times." he seems kind of annoyed that he was being asked about flower boy
I see what u mean, but he's an interviewer. All those tedious questions that completely ignore whatever response rex gave is just part of his job. Podcasts are what ur thinking of.
U mean talking about rex orange county right?
his existence is enough, really
Ayyy people from the UK, what kind of accent does he have?!
british, maybe?
Surrey accent
Dude why is Alex literly my life
Oh God his accent
wild
never hears cmaj7 chords...? lol
Great show host
Damn what happened to bros accent🤣🤣🤣
ROC 20 and successful me 19 and still doesn't know what to do
is he from surrey
7:40
"piano players are just better song writers" listen I agree that piano has different range/dynamic from a guitar (and I think Alex handles talking about the differences much better than the interviewer in the very short time they had to cover that very broad topic lmao) but like... please listen to Hozier or Joni Mitchell or Lianne La Havas or any great guitarist and get back to me
Pony up, control your narrative.
There! BILLY JOEL
LOL
well.
Lmao
Bro I’m so confused where is his accent from? Like is it British? Southern? Canadian?
Kai Zito London
@@awesomfog345 No mate hes from surrey

The interviewer really annoys me. We get it u understand music.
why did his accent have to change 😢
This interviewer is mad weird and gives off bad vibes. He does this in every interview too. Fire him
hes the man
@@TOTO-vr9hh nah dawg
It was pretty cringe when the interviewer started talking about chords. Also used the word tonality wrong.
this interview should work at FBI.
I swear he's English? Sounds kinda american at some parts
PeytonHutchinson bruh...
The more I listen to him speak his voice almost sounds like British mixed with a country accent
this interviewer creeps me out “touched by god” wth
His voice ahh
This interviewer does not know wtf he's talking about
whoever mic'd up rex put it way to close to his throat. you keep hearing gross throat noises lol
His accent confuses me
Interviewer cringe as hell
Interviewer makes it cringy. No interesting questions and no flow in the interview
