This album woke me up. It pretty much kick the sleepiness out of me. I got to excited end up listening on all of it. I love it.

And by "stole it", it was a misunderstanding, the person that penned the original music is friends with them, he doesn't care that they used it, it helped make that artist more popular, everybody won, and people on the internet are just thirsty to continue drama for 4 years ago.
I love how Hexum backchats about his long time affinity for technology/music tech. I remember back when maybe SoundSystem was released with the bonus video content or maybe it was ETSD 2, Hex had cutting edge setups... almost Ableton Live-ish LiveSets with hardware and software all set-up for song creation via looping clip launching, etc (and this was way before Live became a household name to every aspiring frat-bro DJ)..miT and Nick have and still continue to be the foundation of inspiration for my mini-studio setups

I need to see these guys live again soon. Haven't since 1998 lol. They carried me thru HS. Funny fact. Our HS nearly banned 311 shirts on the false narrative of the meaning of their band name lol. Been a fan since 94 or so. Still rocking them today w my workout playlist. Grassroots or Music are probably my favorites. I also loved Omaha Sessions back in the day when searching for non mainstream tracks. Really their longevity is impressive. No band spats. Just togetherness and love.

That's what I'm talking about! LOVE that heavy crunch of the guitar in the first chorus and how they go double time for the second chorus. Love the little subtle sounds that pop out when you listen on headphones. Chad's snare also sounds pretty dope!. Almost has that old pop sound that us hip-hop lovers miss. Wish this song was about 2 minutes longer - but maybe I'm just getting greedy. I also love SA's vocal ad libs. It has been a while since they 'mixed a melody with some back chat'. EDIT: Just heard about the awkwardness with Noisestorm. Hope that gets sorted. Eek!

Yeah man. It keeps their tradition of mixing musical styles into something new and mixing vocal styles throughout the song. I’m loving the energy on this one, and I agree as with many great 311 tunes that it’s over too fast.

Hey Yo, to all the naysayers, Don't You Worry, it was a Perfect Mistake. Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm. There's no need to Bomb The Town or Freak Out just because they didn't Come Original, I mean, Damn. It's Alright. I've been a fan since '94 and you can still Count Me In for this album, I'm Down.
I get it though, it's easy to make Something Out of Nothing. Just try to Speak Easy and make better Use of Time. I'm sure Nick was saying, What Was I Thinking, but then realized...Don't Dwell, it's Forever Now. Sometimes you have to Let the Cards Fall where they may and move on. Don't be a Prisoner of your mind. Reconsider Everything, analyse the Places That the Mind Goes and realize that you're Lucky to be here at all. Let's just hope that they don't get All Mixed Up and make the Same Mistake Twice.
If one thing like this can make you go from love to hate, perhaps you're not the 311 fan you've always claimed to be.

I understand that Nick has admitted he unintentionally stole the song from Heist (claims a friend sent him "a [sic] unlabeled track"), but what's almost as disappointing is that 311 is outsourcing their writing to other people.
I'm sure that makes up a small percentage of their songs. They've made 200+ songs in their career. So if you actually get disappointed that say in 10 instances they had outside help, even say that in 20 instances that would be less than 10% of their songs and they'd still have 180+ purely composed by them. It's not like this entire song was given to them and they just threw lyrics in it. Ultimately the trippy/crunchy guitar and nick and SA's rap verses are what make this song dope (which were their ideas). Don't become an entitled fan. Would you rather them stop putting out music if that was the case they did that every now and then? I imagine after making over 200 songs it might become more difficult to keep coming up with new stuff. I'd say you being disappointed in only 180 pure originals is being entitled and unappreciative of the huge amount of work they've put in throughout their career. They've been in the industry for 30 years, same band members, and still tour every year and put on a bunch of shows. They could easily retire and just sit back and relax but they are still are at it and continuing to entertain fans. Pretty amazing. So yeah, maybe ponder all that for a moment.

If I want to hear people perform other people's compositions, I'll go see a cover band, or listen to most of the top 40. Listen to the bass at the very beginning. It bears a strong resemblance to the guitars at the beginning of this song. Also, when the vocals in Crossfire kick in, you'll hear a melody in the background. Now go back and listen to Heist. Exact same melody. Crossfire was released earlier this year. Heist was released in 2015. This song rips it off. Now, fortunately, the lead singer of 311 has made a public apology to Noisestorm and it seems like it's pretty much settled, but nevertheless, Heist was the original.

It's very normal for artists to use songs as references / inspiration. Also please remember there are only 7 notes in music, played at different octaves. With millions of songs, some are bound to "sound" similar to you, or even for artists to come up with very similar ideas. I love the new tracks.

It's not that it sounds like it, but the discovery of new sounds is very reminiscent. I was listening with it on a playlist with song from chaos and i thought the very same thing.

Oh WOW great ear, I had to look up the song. I know who it is now. Man, even the bass line going back and forth in the build-up in the same spots, and the way the drums change on each Crossfire chorus part is the same style drum beat. Is one of the 311 guys Noisestorm or something? I just can't believe 311 would intentionally steal a song structure like that, allllll the way through the song too at that! These guys are too creative. They dont need to steal anything. That's why im so confused. Maybe the label made them do it or something?
