I don't have anything against the Megabass crankbaits but the "poorly made" Bandit crankbaits you mentioned absolutely crush bass on a consistent basis. Especially the 100 and 200 series in solid white. Any lake with a decent shad population and the white 100 or 200 Bandit is all that and a bag of chips for shallow water cranking. I'll give MB a try but the Bandit is a blue-collar go to.
Agreed just started fishing bandits this past summer and was crushing them on the 300 series. Don’t love the hooks and hardware on them I would catch 3-4 5 pounders on them in a row in a matter of an hour and have hooks bent up. Ended up changing hardware on them and they’re my go to now and actually Out fish a lot of my more expensive crank baits with better paint finishes lol. Glad I’m not the only one who thought that about them.
Land it on a Bandit!! Great baits for sure , I always change out the hook hanger Split Rings to 2.5 size “ Fine Split Rings “ and #6 Eagle Claw Bronze 374 Replacement Treble Hooks on my Bandit 100, 200, &300 series - The Fine split rings allow for freedom of movement for the hooks, resulting in way more landed fish. Give the Luck- e - strike …..Deep Smoothy Crankbaits a try, they are made in the U.S.A. The 3/8 model fishes in the Bandit 200 depth range, but it is a tad bit bigger and cast further…..One of the last true crankbaits made in America.
Love the channel and the tips but after about $10 I just can't do it. If I was making a living fishing then maybe but as a weekender got to keep it real, otherwise I would find myself jumping in after hung up $20+ lures. Heck I break out the old lure knocker for a favorite Texas rigged grub if it will save it. May have to start custom engineering some cheapos!
I would have to agree with you. 20 bucks for a chunk of plastic?? That's just to much. Like Bill dance would say, a 5 dollar bait at the right depth, and the right color , fished at the right speed, will catch fish just like the 20-30-40 dollar lure.
I fish Table Rock. Throw my cranks on 10# test. Cannot wrap my mind around wedgin a $20 CB in the rocks. I’ll have to listen to your stories about how effective they are. It is a great lookin bait.
I just picked up a couple of these baits and I gotta say, they are very well put together except for the hooks! If megabass is gonna charge $20 for a bait the least they could do is put a better quality hook on the damn thing! These hooks are very light! Thin wire and delicate… correct me if I’m wrong but these things look like they’d bend out with a larger fish on the hook?
I’m not well off by any means so 20$ for something i’ll likely lose the first day i throw it… Duo Realis and River2Sea make great crankbaits at around 15$ and thats still too pricey for me when i already have to overpay for fluorocarbon. Megabass makes some high quality lures but I have faith in my ability to catch just as many fish without such an expensive lure in my tacklebox.
For a weekend angler 'at best', @ $20 a pop, I don't think so.... the waters I fish are crankbait eaters, so as much as I appreciate seeing great new crankbaits, not at that price.

Thanks Randy... I'll have to watch at Cabela's for them this spring or sooner.. Was wondering why nobody talks about the old .. Kneeling and Reeling.. We use this on the Menominee River for small mouth with excellent results.. Just saying that you can get a lure 3 to 4 ft deeper by putting the rod under the water and Reeling it back.. Just my opinion.. The Frye Guy

Poorly designed cheaply made bandits? You think that Megabass costs any more money to produce? A bandit is one of the most fish catching cranks ever made. It's a shame that RUclips doesn't show the amount of thumbs down anymore. You always talk about the "elitist" way tournament fishing is heading then sit there and pimp $25 crankbaits, laughable.
Link in the description takes me to bait wrx homepage. Then tells me they have no z3 in stock. Hookup tackle, largest megabass retailer in the us doesn’t have them either. Your promoting something we can’t get a hold of.
They are sooooo expensive though. I cant do it. I lose wiggle warts and lures…not that much, but it happens. I cant lose a $22 lure, i’ll be diving in to get it. I know ive had crazy good success with the wiggle wart mad flash series..i have like 7 of them, And the rapala dt series i have a ton of those. If I instead bought the super z megabass, i would be able to buy 1 or 2 for the several I have in other series. It would cost a fortune. Lemme break it down: To get 1 in each of main colors: shad, bluegill, craw, and a chartreuse…youre talking $80 plus tax so ~$85. Then if you got those for each of the 3 styles of these cranks youre talking $255 after tax….and thats having no backups…so if you’re on an amazing bite on one color of one type and it breaks or you lose it….youre screwed. So really it would cost way more than $255 if you bought doubles of each one. I LOVE MEGABASS LURES THOUGH. I have a few, I also always buy the custom painted copies of their hardbaits s-cranks; vision 110’s, etc. Can you get me a megabass sponsorship?
@@randyblaukatintuitive you are right randy……since i started fishing tourneys and fishing more extensively and more often, i rarely lose a lure anymore. I was just getting at they are magnificent lures and i wish i could use all megabass…i just cant afford them without a spinsorship. I get the custom painted clones, i get the best lures i can get….and every once in a while i get a megabass or two. But i dont have a great collection or anywhere near the colors i need. I love japan tackle, imkatsu, duo, all of it. I use gfinesse hooks exclusively for everything, i use all daiwa sv tw reels and a couple megabass rods. I only have one sponsor right now and its phenix rods so most my rods are theres, but i love them….they are lighter rods than most, more japanese tapers. I’ll have to try these new lures for sure, see if they work better than the madflash warts
The Smithwick Rogue to me is not a good lure even though it has a cult following. The lure darts too straight on the jerk with minimal roll on the stop. As for the straight retrieve, it is on point with perhaps the best bc of the round body with the knifed belly. The floating models run too high and float too fast. The suspending model is best of the models as it has a slight side-to-side action. The 10's and deep runners are garbage. The 10's are terrible in all the right things. Who the fook am I?
I get it you have sponsors and they expect you to promote their products….to a point! You are starting to sound like a circus barker. I will never buy another Megabass product because I feel like I’m being hustled.

Thanks for the update, Randy! The Z3s are actually in stock! 😍😍😍
🤑😖👎 it's not worth it. But guys buy it..lol
Have you fished this deep diver yet?
Link in the description takes me to bait wrx homepage. Then tells me they have no z3 in stock. Hookup tackle, largest megabass retailer in the us doesn’t have them either. Your promoting something we can’t get a hold of.
I just ordered a few. Check again as they were all in-stock except one color.
I just talk to them and they do have them in stock. You might give them a ring at the physical store
Punch in Megabass scroll down to them. There selling out already.
They have over 100 in stock right now here’s the direct link..bait-wrx.com/products/megabass-super-z3?sca_ref=851308.TAaRVmwlK9
A plug knocker will get them most every time
@@randyblaukatintuitive you are right randy……since i started fishing tourneys and fishing more extensively and more often, i rarely lose a lure anymore. Even if its hung way up somewhere shallow a boat cant get to, i can usually get to it in my hobie. I do use some megabass lures, and i rarely lose lures anymore unless a giant striper or catfish something hits snd breaks menoff while im unprepared.
I see a smallmouth smasher in this. Well there goes another 200 dollars.
Please put bait works in your description . 50k and you will keep grow.
It’s in the Description
Thanks Randy...you just cost me more money. LOL
$20 a pop, can afford them, but find it hard to spend that much for a crankbait.
This CB is worth a $100.
Too bad I got my kids B-ball games on Saturday the 15th or I’d come see you at the expo next week.
Have you even fished this deep diver yet?
$20+ Nope.
Ill spend 25 on a jerkbait but no more than 12 on a crankbait just doesnt make any sense
Bandits, poor quality?
I get it you have sponsors and they expect you to promote their products….to a point! You are starting to sound like a circus barker. I will never buy another Megabass product because I feel like I’m being hustled.
