It was a children's size and she gave it to my mother who passed it down to me. I really loved the dress but it never really felt right to wear it. I think I only wore it once or twice at home before I grew out of it. When we moved, my mom gave it away since it didn't fit anyone anymore and it was never really used. Looking back, when I was young we lived right next to the University's international family housing, and my three best friends were from Mongolia, Nepal, and China. They all liked the dress too, it might've been best if I was able to give it to one of them instead of donating it to goodwilll without it ever getting worn hardly at all.

HUGE crush on Lindsay Lohan as a kid. Huge, massive. We're almost the same age and she turned out gorgeous as an adult and I followed her career after this film debuted, even her music career. The parts of this film that stuck with me most were actually the bits where the kids reveal who they are to their newly discovered parents...especially Chessy just losing it when she realizes who Annie is. If it were me, that would have been a kick in the teeth, but Lisa Ann Walter sells it wonderfully. Honestly I thought we were robbed of the reaction of Dennis Quaid finding out that Hallie was the one who came home to see him; the man has drama chops, the reveal would have been emotional, or more so than it was here. The wine bottle scene actually stuck with me most...can you imagine that? You are so rich, so well-connected and so heartbroken over the end of your marriage that you BUY OUT an entire bottling of one wine varietal? Even if that was a micro-harvested single vat of wine, that could run you into the thousands if not HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars. It HAS to be cheaper to simply say "I was wrong, we can make this work, take me back." Because of that and few other things, this film has a bit of a disconnect with me as an adult...this is 'First World Problems' the movie, where the concept of horseback ridding through vineyards, shopping till you drop at Harrods, private boat dinners, traveling from London to San Francisco at a moments notice, the hired help joins you on your trip and you end up getting married on the QE2...TWICE...is no problem! O! 90s economy, take me back! I'll never stray again!
Yeah but seriously WTF happened to Lohan? Everything was coming up roses and then BOOM, her entire career seemed to implode. Real shame, too. :-(
(And no, I couldn't marry for money. I'm a wild animal that might allow himself to be tamed...but I will never be a pet. Too much of a power imbalance. And while I don't have any twins, I do enjoy camping. Just saying. ^_^. )

Yeah both parents being rich and successful really took me out a bit LOL it would've been sooo interesting if one parent was just middle/working class. I just know there would be so much jealousy from one twin, but class dynamics would be too much for a 90s comedy hahaha
Also, yeah a shame about her :( I don't know what she's up to now, but I hope she is doing okay. It must suck trying to find work again after everything

    • @JH-cs5py
      @JH-cs5py 2 года назад +1

@@SophiaPhannn Ooooo that would've been fascinating. So one of them IS from England and proper and a little snobby and all "I have class and you don't", while the other one is from, like, the Bronx or Cabrini Green or South Central LA and is all "My Dad is an auto-mechanic, which contributed to why YOUR mom left him...they were too 'different'. But hey, I'm grateful for everything he's been to me...in fact, he scraped together enough money to send me to this camp by working overtime for 6 months. I know we look alike, but our social dynamic/childhood experiences are a little less parallel than you think they are, hun." That would have been a ballsy movie for Disney to make in the late 90s.

Me too! I probably saw it on Disney Sunday night when I was 12 or 13. I was bummed when I found out that the movie came out the year I was born!

this movie is based on the book by the famous German author Erich Kästner. he once said: "only if you stay a child at heart you are human." I love that mindset and try to live by it.

While I would agree it looks like any other summer camp, my guess is it's an exclusive summer camp, since both twins are from well off families, dad owns a wine vineyard. Mom designs wedding dresses

Fun facts: The boy who is there because he thought it was a boys camp is Lindsay Lohan’s brother and also Kat Graham who plays Bonnie in The Vampire Diaries is in this movie (Annie’s friend) 😁

The scene where they're all saying goodbye in the rain, and Nat King Cole, "Everytime We Say Goodbye" is playing, I love that scene. Me being extra asf, whenever my twin sis and me say goodbye, I start playing this song 😂😂

For some reason I always thought of them at camp and when they switched as part one, and then them reconnecting and the camping trip as like the second part 😂

Interestingly the woman that plays Meredith's mom Vicky she also played as Vicki in the original

in the original film their punishment was not simply "living" together, they also had to do all the camp activities together. They also had a separate table just for the two of them. I think that's why the friends don't show up again.
Also the song that Hallie sings in the elevator is the song that the twins in the original film sing to their parents.
And in fact the twin who goes with her mother ends up screaming at her that what they did to them was horrible.

I know and watched this movie's German version, as this is an "adaption" of Erich Kästner's "Das doppelte Lottchen." For one who read the book and watched the movie, the German one has a very special place in my heart, but this one also is really beautiful.

For me, growing up with divorced parents, the meeting the other parent scene always makes me cry. I can't remember what it's like to have a mom and dad together that love each other.
My mom showed me wedding pictures of her and my dad. And That is the one picture where they actually looked like they were in love. I was 6 when they separated.
