Considering you have to do most of the research still, it would work if you have two mechanics. One to only do research and one to do maintenance. Your research will go faster this way as it doesn't have to be interrupted continuously. Same goes for the vets, especially as you start growing. Having one vet research the new animals and the second vet take care of the animals will help.
I think this is a pretty good start honestly, just a couple suggestions maybe want to have a generator so you can power education boards for the Aldabra tortoises side and for better education rating just sprinkle a few of the conservation boards around other than that pretty good, also like the intro simple but good

Sometimes, if the shelter is too low, the game will think that it doesn't register. Obviously when we look at it it looks tall enough to us, but sometimes it gets finicky about heights, even though the tortoises don't need a tall shelter. I've found this to happen in some of my games, but it's super random (sometimes it's an issue and sometimes it isn't!)

@@SimplySavannahYT If you're having issues with the shelters and with getting conservation credits, then it might be a bug. Restarting the game hopefully will help! Both of those bugs have happened to me before.

Also sometimes if the game is paused, it doesnt always acknowledge changes to habitat. I dont think the game was paused but I've had issues with that.

In regards to trying to improve the genes over the generations: I'd recommend focusing on keeping the offspring with improved size/longevity genes compared to their parents. Size and longevity are harder to improve than fertility and immunity (the last two are determined by the diversity of the parent genes, so you got good results from two frontier animals; two related animals with good fertility/immunity will probably still result in bad genes in their offspring due to their genes being too similar; size and longevity work differently in that they are additive genes in the game and two parents with good genes for those aspects will probably also produce high genes in their offspring). I'd also recomment using the compare mates feature for potential mates on the market when the time comes to get a mate for the offspring.
Definitely get some more information boards up! You’ve only got one for one species but it will help encourage better donations since you’ve done all the research already :- ) also don’t forget to colour the donation bins! Can’t wait to see how the ticketing entrance area progresses.

I’ve gotten the “offspring imminent” bug loads; if you just move the offending animal to somewhere else in the habitat, even just a few feet away, it usually reminds them they’re supposed to give birth haha 😂

I can't believe it's taken me so long to find your content, I've been playing franchise zoos since day one and a lot of the other players I watch for inspiration seem to concentrate on building sandbox or massively chaotic environments. You've got the balance right and I am looking forward to seeing how this develops.

I suggest that you go for the Planet Zoo theme for the entrance and maybe some not to popular and general animals that aren’t really on any theme in the game, like flamingos, warthogs, gemsbok, tapirs or Nile monitors

Being the human embodiment of a speeding tortoise, I clicked on this immediately. I am now working on my 2nd franchise zoo. I went bankrupt twice with the first one but I persevered because I put too much effort in it to quit. I pulled myself out of bankruptcy using a combo of fast breeding exhibit animals, shops and marketing with a couple of loans thrown in.
Hoping I can avoid bankruptcy myself! 🤞

Couple of thoughts, sorry if I'm stating the obvious or if it's been mentioned in comments already.
- educating guests is super important, it's worth getting down extra generators so you can put down more education.
- the turn around time between having offspring and conceiving again is pretty quick with tortoises and they take AGES to mature, so make sure that you use contraceptives.
- BINS, BINS and more BINS. Can't have too many.
- if you've finished researching all of your current animals, it's worth getting onto diseases asap.
- with breeding, preference longevity and size over fertility and immunity. The latter are really variable, but the other two pass down nicely between generations.
- once you've researched the souvenir shops, swap the middle info shops for them, they make good money and that way you're not doubling up too much on the same shop type.

In our texas winter storm of 2021, a lady down in south central (think austin area) had a tortoise. Had to bring them inside their house to keep them warm.
Great minds think alike! I was thinking about playing a challenge or sandbox mode with money and cc turned on and only adopt animals out of a rescue source or custom Seizure and go from there. But my Zoo Unity is still in full swing and I don't have time for another project. I'm glad I can watch your new series in the meantime! :)

Looking good, great start! You're braver than I am, doing franchise in hard mode. Only thing I noticed/was concerned about was checking the water purifying radius. Looked like maybe the pool for the Aldabras may have been out of range.

I’m several months late to the party but … in case it wasn’t answered - sometimes the hard shelter is too tall to count for tortoises. If you lower the roof on that shelter it should work. I’ve had that problem before

I always play this game in sandbox mode I tired franchise mode once and I got very frustrated very easily so I stick with sandbox mode
Sometimes the bedding glitches so try removing the bedding and it should count as hard shelter

Hi, hello there. I love the idea with only buying animals with less than good stats and then just breed the animals until you get good stats.
I’ve noticed, if I may say so, that the Arctic Wolves are actually quite bad stats wise. Mostly it’s just the ones from Frontier Zoo that’s available on the market. I’m not sure if people are just refusing to share the gene pool or what, but man, I’m having so much trouble getting good stats animals.......
Anyways, I’m looking forward to seeing you get superior animals from red stats animals. 😛😛😆😆
