    I have to say this about Spypoint, if you get them working, dont move
    them, turn them off, anything. If you shut them off, move them etc, you risk them never connecting again! We have 17 of them. Both micro and CT models. The good thing is, Spypoint will replace them at no cost, but they have ALOT of work to do on their cell cams technology. Vast majority of people are telling me to go with Tactacam. I have 5 new Spypoint Flex on the way. See how these perform. Any issues and I'm selling them all and switching. I could be tech support for these things, I've seen it all with these cams. If u get it working, leave it alone! Lol

      @@johnmash2018 damn, sorry to hear man. I'll tell you now, Spypoint has it figured out with their new flex. I setup 5 of them without issue. They are all working perfect, not a single issue and pictures are clear as a bell!
      Very happy with my new ones. The antenna is much better in them too. I have a micro lte with an 8 foot antenna hooked onto it.. it is getting 40% signal. I put my flex on the same tree, below the lte, no extra antenna and it is getting 50% signal.

      @@millertime2612 i bought two reveal x cams and they both have been great. I still have one spypoint micro that's running and the one big advantage of the spypoint micro is the size and camo color make it extremely concealable. If only the tactacam was half the size of what it is.

    My camera was purchased in early November 2020. It was sending pictures to my phone every day until it stopped working the first week in March 2021. Apparently the unit got wet internally. I called Spypoint and was lucky to have a new unit mailed out to me. I read comments about customers experiencing water inside the camera. I mentioned to the customer rep the complaint about the camera. He said that the new cameras are better at keeping water out. Not sure if the solar panel was the cause for the problem with water getting inside. Just make sure to update the cameras to the newest software update. The solar panel is definitely a bonus.

    Id be curious to know what your service area is like and how they compared in that regard. The big appeal for me with Tactacam is what I hear about service/signal.

    • @millertime2612
      @millertime2612  3 года назад +1

      My area has pretty similar service no matter the service provider. I will say that I have found since making the video the Tactacam does seem to show the stronger signal in the same spots as the Spypoint. Assuming could be part of the larger/better antenna on the Tactacam

      @@millertime2612 same here. I have a spypoint micro lte and a reveal x both in the same location and both are vzw. The spypoint will generally show 50% signal when the reveal x has 90%. HD requests are almost instant but spypoint takes a day sometimes due to signal strength. Spypoint is dead to me.

    Can the tactacam run on an external battery? I’m assuming it’s probably a 12 Volt camera?

  • @RK-ob9kh

    What’s your opinion on the two now? Owned to original reveal for two years now. Had to get a replacement after a year and now my other one has began to leak and fog up lends. I’m debating on switching to spy point but heard more negatives on there end. One thing I will say about Tactacam is there customer service is very helpful.

    • @millertime2612
      @millertime2612  2 года назад +2

      After running both now for a while I will get the Reveal over any Spypoint. I had to replace the one spypoint, but other than that no camera issues. The Reveals I have gotten have been running great. They are much better quality, better pictures, and as you mentioned their customer service is great! I had a connection issue one time with my X, and called them and they had it fixed right away. Needed to reset something with the AT&T network, not even directly related to the camera.

  • @bfs8029
    @bfs8029 3 года назад +1

    one item that would have been nice for this comparison is to have purchased a Spypoint without the solar panel then compare battery life on both cameras based on the number of pictures. Another comparison is to place them side by side and view each picture and picture quality. You could also compare the wildlife detection circuit of each camera. I had a Spypoint in my backyard and half the time or more when deer and turkeys showed up the camera did not even detect them The electronic components in the Spypoint detection circuits are not very good. Working with Spypoint customer service was not good. Every time I made a change like they suggested and it did not improve things I called them back and got a new customer service rep and had to go through the whole thing again. They should assign a person or rep for each caller to keep track of what has been done and tested. Hard for me to think the Spypoint is still a go for you since it already failed on you.

    • @millertime2612
      @millertime2612  3 года назад

      Very good points. This was only an initial comparison. Your issues must have been worse than mine, as I only had the one occurrence dealing with customer service. I have recently also talked to many others and it’s a trend that the SPYPOINT without solar have had many many more issues. The solar models seem to be a little better for whatever reasons in the manufacturing. The replacement camera is still working for me, but YES going forward from this day now, I would only go with the Reveal. The SPYPOINT is Ok… but the Reveal is much better after more and more findings and use since the making of this video.

    So with the spypoint, you lose all pics if it stops working? Was there a way to save them offline in case that happened.
    Also regarding shutter speed, does it take a pic everytime there is movement? (Curious if you know max number of pics per minute that it would take) Or are you able to set the speed.

    • @millertime2612
      @millertime2612  2 года назад +1

      I have not used any Spypoint recently and do not recall specific settings or specs, you would have to refer to their information/manuals. As for saving them the only thing I am aware you could do is to manually download each image (or any you want to save outside the app) to your camera roll.

    • @millertime2612
      @millertime2612  3 года назад +1

      Biggest thing for any cell cam, doesn’t matter what brand, is that your area has cell service. If you don’t have any service it’s pointless to have a cell cam that won’t send photos. After that I would recommend any of the Reveal models. Since the video was made I’ve gotten more Reveals and super pleased with them. The SpyPoints are still running but just not as impressed with their signal strength and quality.

    • @millertime2612
      @millertime2612  3 года назад

      Based on experience with both I would buy either. Right now the only option I would have is the SPYPOINT, and that’s only because Tactacam cannot keep up with the stores in my area. I feel they are both very comparable in what you get for the price point.

    • @millertime2612

      There are different price levels you can purchase based on the amount of photos per month you want to receive. There is a base fee for the first camera the. A reduced fee for each additional camera. Details are on their website.
