For anyone who's curious to know, the giant monster was the dead father's warden to ensure safe passage to the living world but also to make sure he'd go back again. It was written in the manga as an editor's note.
It's nice and sweet that her brother what's to protect her sister even though he doesn't know her living nightmare and I am shocked that her father was dead and his spirit lives in the house of a unfinished business which was sweet, wholesome, and emotional that makes me cry.
there are pure soul there are nasty soul there are differences between accidents and murdered the white soul represents pure the black represents dirty it had nothing to do with racial skin im talking about the spirit remember bald guy adopted cat his dead wife protects him it was wholesome sad
Think as the comment above said, each soul and spiritual energy is color pattern and their forms are shape acording to this. White and blue represent pure and calm spirit and energy. Meaning they are ones with not hatred or ill will. Firely Orange represent the most vivid spirit/energy, like Miko's friend. The dark and dirty represent the demonic spirits. Usually those with hatred, or tainted souls, full of regrets, guilt or ill will when they were alive. Most likely vengefuls. The more dark and dirty, the more twisted and grotesque they are. And last, the golden ones, who are basically divine spirits who can counter the ones above through prayers to them for protection of you or your loved ones (like when Miko prayer to get rid of the spirit harrassing her friend). The more golden, the more powerful and regal.
Also, spirits that still retained their appearance like her father, the good bald man's wife, that one old lady and old man don't have any grudge or evil intentions, they still linger because of some unfinished business
Ya sadly I got spoiled on this scene by a youtuber he did a review of the manga about a year or 2 ago and I was looking the show up when the first episode dropped so when he said this scene I was like well hopefully it’s real late in the manga so I can forget before it’s in the anime

From this anime, I understand one thing and that is that this world has three separate spirits. The ones with the ghastly aura are probably the ones whose unfinished business may not have been fulfilled. They leech onto this world and keep on going. The older the spirit, the more powerful it is probably. I mean that blonde girl Yuria can't see the powerful ones which make me question in that world. On the other hand, Miko's dad and those cat spirits along with that gangster looking guy's wife are probably what you can guardian spirits. They had no regrets and are ready to move on to the next life. They just stay there because they actually care about their family. But then again that old woman's dead husband had a ghastly aura and he didn't turn into a good looking spirit in the end. Maybe he had other unfinished business. And third ones are the ones that are God spirits in that shrine. They seem to be the most powerful ones and can exorcise any evil spirits
I love their sister and brother relationship, not like those typical animes where the little bro or sis is bossy and tsun tsun type. This anime is wholesome!
I always wonder... was the beast-thing hanging around her dad just something that 'wandered in' and stayed? Or was it some aspect of him that was separate from the 'him' that was talking? Like, was it a representation of maybe the guilt of his having eaten her pudding, and so it took on the aspect of a hungering beast that just kinda ruined meals for her, even if her dad didn't MEAN for that to happen? Or was it just another spirit, a hungry beast thing that just stuck around.
