    I've worked a bunch of retail jobs; the thing about "they have to say no 3 times" is true.

      Can confirm.
      Worked at a local bookstore in San Dimas for 3 years, and I'd always get talked to for not saying it to *any* customer.

    man garret really a good guy, he's still care for that clerk who obviously just another slave to this stupid retail system.

    • @ThomasWilson4
      @ThomasWilson4 4 года назад +9

      Yeah he's talked about working retail and in the mall. That's the same way I am, I'm very short tempered but I know whoever is begrudgingly doing the upselling is being told to by some dick. Always give the manager s***, they get paid extra for it.

    Derrick was in the wrong about the chicken. He is the customer who everyone in retail hates. If you're out of something, you're out of something. There is no reason they should change the price on a different item to appease him.

    • @heyzeuscreestow9394
      @heyzeuscreestow9394 5 лет назад +9

      Yea, except the reason to please him... they are inconveniencing the customer by not having what's advertised

      @@heyzeuscreestow9394 Cool! How the flying fuck is that somehow the cashire's fault then? It's management's fault for not ordering more. I hope they spit on his chicken.

    • @magnedeusfenrir9582
      @magnedeusfenrir9582 4 года назад +2

      @@RichterTheRat There are businesses that can let tiny things let that slide. And if higher ups get pissy about something like that, then they're a shitty business. I would've gave him a substitute for the wings and watched he be on his merry way. Unlike you that would just sit there and argue with a customer over something as small as a tiny substitute. There's a solution to almost everything, try to find one that benefits you both.

    • @Simspidey
      @Simspidey 2 года назад +2

      Disagree, the business has failed the customer down by not having the product (No fried chicken at KFC?!?!), and the employees response is "well I can have you pay MORE money for something you didn't want instead". It costs KFC probably 5 cents per piece of chicken, they'll still make mad profit on his purchase even with a discount.

    • @MegaCalder

      Is no one considering that this front-line employee was likely just afraid of getting in trouble with his boss? What he could have done is delegate the situation to a supervisor and have them deal with it. He was caught between an upset customer, and his manager enforcing policy.

    Derrick is absolutely in the wrong in that story

    • @jammer4317
      @jammer4317 6 лет назад +34

      honestly this. The dude was probably really new and didn't know how the till worked, you can't just "make a substitution" when all the deals are programmed in. Of course when he asked his manager they probably didn't give a shit and left the guy to take the heat until derrick flipped out and they just gave it to him cause it wasn't worth the hassle

      Yeah, restaurants don't have an infinite amount of everything, sometimes they just don't have something. "Ok just give me this _other_ thing on the menu for the same price", it doesn't work like that

    As someone who's worked at Target before, the whole "not letting people put things on hold" thing is true, mostly because of the issue Rocco talked about. However, the whole accessory thing is BULLSHIIIIT. Whatever shit that manager told that guy is wrong, and they should be fired. You should never keep a customer from buying what they came there to buy. I sold plenty of consoles and items just by themselves without any accessories. Sure, it's heavily encouraged to sell console accessories, but it was never REQUIRED. That's some bullshit.

    Lol Derrick, I worked at Barnes and Nobles once as well, selling those memberships was the lamest stupidest thing they forced you to do ever. Working the music department sucks, being an employee there just really sucks in general, especially if you generally despise most mainstream "culture" and all the "popular" music and movies being pushed on the public.

  • @LSDOvideos
    @LSDOvideos 6 лет назад +14

    Derrick seems to think that minimum wage workers who will have a shitty KFC job for a year at most give two flying fucks about whether or not ANYONE brings money to their establishment, let alone an irate guy. The customer is always right is a nice saying and it definitely applies to higher end service providers like fancy hotels or retaurants because the people there have careers and get good wages, but pulling the 'the customer is always right' card at a fucking KFC of all places is lunacy. Nobody gives a fuck, not even the managers there. Nobody bends over backwards for 8 an hour.

    so, LOL i just quit target and the guy in electronics is trying to bum an attachment off, the dude working electronics is supposed to sell accessories but they aren't required to do that shit he said obviously, the store needs to sell the attachment for certain things to look good for corporate. So like the dude's job was probably on the line cause he needs to sell accessories for X amount of his sales to be in the green, OR the store was on the verge of getting axed. Like my manager basically wanted me to shove down the accessories down everybody's throat, you work a commission job with no commission pay, it's fucking retarded the insurance btw 95% OF THE SHIT THERE HAS IT'S OWN TYPE OF INSURANCE. I've never heard of this but its funny cause its not a target rule for them to do that BUT ITS NOT SURPRISING IN THE LEAST!

    Working in retail, they always want you get credit cards and warranties.
    And if you manage to get one out your manager just wants more.

    Y'know what's crazy, is I just remembered an insane interaction I had with a Best Buy employee once. I can't remember what I was even buying, but he told me I'd get a discount if I signed up for the rewards card or whatever. And I said yes for some reason. So we're filling it out, y'know, name, phone number, social security number.... And I was like, "wait what?" And he's like, "yeah, social security number?" And I was like, "yeah nevermind." And he had this befuddled look on his face and said, "what? Why not?"
    WHY? Do I really need to explain why I shouldn't give some teenager at a retail chain my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER to get a five dollar discount on a toy? I must have been like 18 or 19, but I was so taken back by that. Remembering it now, I'm not even convinced it happened. Like was there seriously a time where Best Buy's rewards card required your SSN? Who would do that?
