  • Saying farewell to "Gramps" as he returns to his home in the wild. Virginia Opossum patient 24-165, an elderly male Opossum nicknamed "Grandpa" or "Gramps" for short, was admitted to ORC on April 10, 2024, after being found trapped in a live trap with injuries he sustained from trying to escape the trap.
The trap had broken one of the digits on his front foot, and some of his teeth had been broken and were infected from where he tried to frantically chew his way out of the metal trap.
Dr. Rasp splinted and bandaged his fractured digit, gave him medication for the broken, infected teeth, and staff made sure he had enough tasty food and water to rehydrate, heal, and grow strong enough to be released.
