It's now November 2021, I've used my Tree Genie for 4 years now and still working GREAT! Looking forward to year 5 and an easy setup again this year with the Krinner Tree Genie XXL
Had a Swivel Straight XSL1 since the late 90s, one of the arm springs and the plastic finally gave way after more than two decades of loyal service. Just ordered the one shown in the video from my local Ace. We’ll see how it works out, but I’ve heard good things about it.
You could’ve always brought the stand out and said your tree is laying on its side. You could’ve fit the stand right onto the tree, and that would’ve gave you a good sense of what needs to be trimmed!😊
I used my Tree Genie XXL for the 3rd year in a row and am happy with it. I found this video helpful to remind me how to work the pedal both ways. Now I would like some advice on how to clean/dry it before storing for next year! A lot of needles get inside, and after a few weeks, when you drain it, the interior surface is a bit slimy. Would you recommend some kind of solution (water + vinegar, or something like that) to cut the residue? Thanks!
It’s very stable. Don’t drill a hole in the bottom of the tree as the stand has a post that drives into the tree to prevent shifting. The clamp is tight like a ratchet strap.
The clamp action is excellent, even gripping on all sides since the steel cable applies the pressure. If you pull on the tree it will not shift in the stand since there is a metal peg in the bottom of the stand that the tree rests on.
With the size tree that you had in the video about how long does the water go from full to empty? I tend to always forget a day or two and then I find the bottom of the tree pores sealing up on me.
When it’s fresh cut and first in the stand I would estimate nearly 1 week but I don’t let it go that long. After 2 weeks I can easily wait a week as the tree won’t drink as much water
It takes a LOT the first fill... mine took around 6 liters at least. Tap the little water bobber while filling too and that help ensure it’s not stuck on some debris
El que usted nos propone de la palanca oh pedal está bien? Pero también me gusta el tipo plato espero encontrarlo en el mercado para este Año 2023. No se si lo encontramos en diferentes tamaños oh es estándar.
Used my large one last year without hassle. This year I have a smaller tree and the prongs aren't gripping it enough to keep the tree stable. What can I do?
This is a difficult situation and I’m not sure what to do. It’s probably too late with my reply but my only thought was to maybe tack some wood strips (like 1x2) to the base of the tree. However this still could wind up failing after your tree is up. Sorry I can’t be of more help in this case
Thank you for the video! We typically put our stand on at the tree lot and drive home (with tree on car) do you think this would hold or is the stand too heavy to lay on it’s side while driving?
Once the tree is out, you can dump the water out the opening. There is technically a drain hole near the top, but it doesn't do much, and will not function when the stand is in the normal position.
I haven’t heard of this problem but I can say that on the first few days the tree drinks a LOT of water, at least 2 liters per day. Then it drinks much less and I only refill the stand every 3-4 days
@@JohnsDIYPlayground ** Prepare the tree trunk prior to installation into the stand: 1) saw off about 5-10mm of the bottom of the tree to reveal fresh wood 2) drill several (8-12) small holes (6-8 mm diameter bit) into this fresh base parallel to the sides of the trunk. Make these holes about 50-70mm deep. The fresh end-cut and the holes will allow water into the base of the tree. The Krinner stands all have a small spike in the middle of the bottom (floor) that both locates the tree trunk in the stand and also lifts the trunk slightly above (~5mm) the very bottom surface so that water can readily enter the bottom of the trunk. Our trees stay green and happy for 3-4 weeks. Using a Christmas Tree preservative product added to your periodic water fills can extend the green tree to almost 2 months! Hint: never let the water reserve in your stand run dry - this can really hasten drying and browning or your tree.
Krinner’s website states the XXL is for trees up to 12 feet and 7 inches diameter in the trunk. I’ve had no problem with smaller 7-8 foot trees in this stand. However if you let the ratchet clamp snap off your foot like I did in this video, the ratchet will release and reset itself.
@@JohnsDIYPlayground Yes, that was the problem. The first couple of times you let it snap up from the end of a down stroke. This sends the pedal/lever into the release position you would use when it's time to remove the tree from the stand. Had nothing to do with the size of the tree trunk.
It comes with that small safety latch. If you put that to the red, locked position, it will prevent the stand from accidentialy OPEN the clamps. That means, you can close the clamps even in locked positon. This will prevent you from accidentialy have your clamps open even if you don't want that. (Maybe bad english, greetings from germany!)

Thanks for the update. Just bought one. Can't wait to try it out.
Is there a min tree diameter for any of their stands? I can't find anything on their website. Thanks!
Thank you for showing me how to set up the Tree Genie!!!
I just got done smashing my old stand with a hammer after the tree toppled over 2 times in less than 24 hours. Going to get this
You will love it!

Great idea and much easier.

I just let mine drip dry outdoors. The slime and sap is “seasoning” to me much like a cast iron pan. I don’t see any harm in leaving it alone.
Came here for the same reason. Did you try vinegar?
Bought one from Clas Ohlsen in Liverpool and it is brilliant.
I want to know how to assemble the red and green one on the right!
Super helpful! I was thinking about buying this stand. Thanks! :)
You’re welcome! We’ve had ours a few years now and still very happy with it.
:)
How do you water the tree without making a mess? I have this tree stand I love it
I have a long clear vinyl tube that I attach to a funnel. I put the end of the tube into the stand and then add the water through the funnel.
@@JohnsDIYPlayground thank you!
How stable is it? How well does it clamp? If you pull on the tree what is likelihood of it shifting in the stand?

How is it to re-adjusting the tree for straightness ??
bought Top Treasures Christmas Tree Stand so far cannot get cables to release
I have this and my water level indicator never popped up last year...I wonder if it's because I never put enough water into the stand to raise it up.
It takes a LOT the first fill... mine took around 6 liters at least. Tap the little water bobber while filling too and that help ensure it’s not stuck on some debris
@@JohnsDIYPlayground I filled that sucker with so much water the bobber did indeed raise, works like a charm. Thanks so much!

The bottom has a pin right? Do you need to drill a hole in the center of the tree? Or smash it on the pin?

I just got one. I'm pretty confident it would stay attached just don't drive like a maniac
How do you empty the water?

thank you!
I have used it for a few years, but now it started leaking :( How to repair it?
Can you tell where it is leaking? JB Weld makes a marine grade epoxy you might be able to use, or maybe FlexSeal tape
Have this stand and it seemed to have stopped the tree from taking water. Any suggestions?

What size is your tree?
We fresh cut our live trees every year and we have 8 foot high ceilings, so typically our tree is 7 to 7.5 feet or so.
The xxl is meant for trees up to 12 feet. That's why your ratchet isn't working right. You need 6 inch diameter or more.
