I am really enjoying these teachings - thank you ! I would like to share my thoughts on the chronology of this miracle with that of the Centurion. It seems clear that these are two separate events and that this one in John 4 is before the one in Matthew 8. Since both men are from Capernaum and were both of a high rank it would seem fair to suppose that they knew one another and that the royal official told the Centurion about Yeshua and how He had healed his son just by speaking the words " your son lives ". This would make it clear to the Centurion how Yeshua operated and why he did not expect Yeshua to attend his house but just send the word. HalleluYAH ! Faith comes by hearing Shalom !
Thank you for sharing these lessons with us. You cannot trust or believe someone you do not know. The centurion trusted and believed Christ because he knew something about Him. The knowledge of the miracles Christ performed were spread throughout the area. The miracles confirmed His authority, that He was from God. That was the purpose of the miracles... to confirm the word.
