- Hope you enjoy our morning vlog in Kerala. On this morning, we went to find some milk. I bought what I thought was milk at the grocery store, but turns out it was NOT milk. We found some milk at the local shop across from our house. Enjoy breakfast with us!

We are an Indian and American couple who are sharing our journey through life as an intercultural/interracial couple. Margaret is from Mississippi, USA and Prasanth is from Kerala, India. പ്രശാന്ത്, പറയണം എന്ന് പലപ്പോൾ വിചാരിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോൾ പറയട്ടെ 🙏 വിദേശത്തു വർഷങ്ങളായി ജീവിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങൾ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും ആ മുണ്ടും ഉടുത്തു വീട്ടിലും കടയിലും ഒക്കെ നടക്കുന്നത് കാണുമ്പോൾ വലിയ സന്തോഷം. ഒരു യഥാർത്ഥ മലയാളി... സ്വന്തം ഗ്രാമത്തിന് പുറത്തു ഒരിക്കൽ പോലും പോവാത്ത ചില ഫ്രീക്കന്മാർ മുണ്ട് ഉടുക്കാൻ അറിയില്ല എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു കേൾക്കാറുണ്ട്... അവർക്ക് സ്മാർട്ട് ഫോൺ ചൊറിയാൻ മാത്രം അറിയാം 😂😂😂. Try finding Amul Lactose Free milk. It was hard to find but it was worth it. It is non refrigerated and tasted the best with cereal once refrigerated.

I love how Maggie is willing to give it a try and to stay 6 weeks is awesome. I know Indian kids that won't set foot in Kerala when as adults cuz it's hot, bugs, etc.
Yes we are hoping to always make it a great experience for aleyka so she enjoys coming back. ❤️
My child is allergic to many things in Kerala, such as pollen from certain flowers and insect bites. While it's normal to develop resistance naturally over time, my kids feel they can't stay in Kerala due to these allergies. Interestingly, people in Kerala, including children, experience diseases specific to the rainy season, winter, and summer. These illnesses are often treated with antibiotics from a young age, which is not commonly seen elsewhere in the world.
Ethaka is my favorite and it can be used to eat after boil. It would be super tasty..

Red banana is - chengadali (you seems to be from south kerala,its more popular there)
Small banana seems - njalipoovan or poovan
Big one that you called as banana is not banana its -plantain or ethappazham

Njaali poovan pazham is also banana in English. It just falls under the umbrella of a banana :) In Kerala we have different Malayalam names for the different varieties but in the English language it’s just a banana!

Actually, The one Prashanth told as banana/ethaka is actually known as plantain(it's similar to banana), The robusta banana wasn't actually that one, it is called red banana, and all the smaller ones are just different varieties of bananas. Great video!! I regularly watch ur content...cheers and love.

The long banana 🍌 "ethakka" is the real one having all the vitamins...one this banana 🍌 can provide all the nutrients for a day..no need of any other food.... stable food of Uganda is this banana "ethaka" , like rice for kerala......nice video god bless ur family 👪 💕

The banana in US is the Robosta variety
And the red banana is the Chenkathali.
And the big yellow banana (plantain) in that shop is the Nendrakka (Ethakka)

That red one is not Chenkadhali (ചെങ്കഥളി). That is Chemboovan. Another varity of our Poovan pazham.(ചെമ്പൂവന്)

It's very easy for you to buy provisions as the shop is just in front of your house. ആ ചെങ്കദളി പഴം നല്ല ഔഷധഗുണം ഉള്ളതാ... മോൾക്ക് ഇവിടുത്തെ ഭക്ഷണം ഇഷ്ടം ആവുന്നില്ല ല്ലേ... എന്തായാലും നല്ല വീഡിയോ 👏👏👏 കുട്ടികൾ ഇങ്ങനെ ആണ്. എന്റെ മോൾ മീൻ കറി കഴിക്കില്ല. വറുത്തത് ഇഷ്ടമാണ്...

Have you tried buying Long Life Whole Milk instead that? We usually buy long life cartons now from the bigger supermarkets when we’re in Sri Lanka instead, as we don’t really like the Fresh Milk over there as it has an odd smell and tastes different. Try it if you can find. ☺️

ethakka or nendrapazham is plantain. The baby banana is a type of banana. robusta is another type of banana. Plaintain is different from banana.

Njaalipoovan, paalaymkodan rather than bananas like small pazhams we can call "Plantain fruit".

@@WorldOfAnAdventure Yes, it’s pasteurized but it’s always safe to boil and have it since some people may be sensitive. We just informed you to be cautious, it will be fine most of the time. Next time onwards, you may consider boiling it ☺️
@@WorldOfAnAdventure I'm from the food industry and with experience I can say that the cold chain is not always maintained. That means your milk can be outside the refrigerator (at higher temperatures) at times during the transportation. Also sometimes here the lights are out, which means the temperature can rise even in the refrigerator. That's the reason if I were you I would have boiled it. Stay safe. Cheers!

The red ones are kadhali pazham, the other long one is called plantains.. It's not robusta... Or the same bananas you get in the US
