Despite all the progress made over the years, I’d say the value has consolidated even MORE into the original smack crew. Every generation afterwards couldn’t carry the torch becuase all the new peoples content is locked behind a paywall. The only people that know who Real Sikh is are not only battle rap fans, but dedicated BR fans, how could they bring in a new audience if it’s so clearly gate kept. I say Real Sikh because he has it all, while still scratching a different demographic itch, and his version of the “miracle/lyrical” style can be impressive to the uninitiated and the hardcore fans alike. But no, becuase no one outside battle rap even knows he exists. Thats why YT was/is so important, even to smacks bottom line. You need the next gen to build their own personal clout so they can carry YOUR business into the future, instead of shitting bricks everytime Surf goes to jail.
