    I noticed that you are twisting the plug section when separating the two pieces. Bamboo experts claim that this is a very good way to break the glue on the ferrule or twist the ferrule if it is pinned. ALWAYS pull the sections apart without twisting! In fact, you later mention this yourself as something NOT to do.
