  • WOW a real artist alley vlog this time! this is at Anime Central in Chicago Illinois, from May 2022! i've been selling at this con for quite a few years now (and attending even longer!) so it's always a fun time.
IN THIS VIDEO: i pack some orders, drive to chicago, set up my artist table, walk around the convention, break down my artist table, then talk a little bit about how the event went!
i tried a few new things with editing this time so let me know what you think about the visual quality and the audio quality?? idk. still learning how to use premiere pro lol

it is sad!! ;_; i *think* some conventions ban stickers because they've had problems in the past with people sticking them on the convention center property, and then the con gets charged with cleaning up. but since this specific con didn't elaborate, that's just a guess on my end! 🥲

I used to practice my table setup but after doing years with around 20 cons it’s pure muscle memory? Regardless of size (corner booth or row etc) it’s autopilot… which means sometimed it doesn’t look great

that's exactly it haha 😂 i used to do around 10-15 cons per year so it's autopilot for me too! and yes you're so right, sometimes that means everything looks a little weird lol

wow Acen banned stickers now too??? I doubt it's the event center since Anime Magic is there too and they allow stickers :/

i think it probably is the event center at the core just because i don't see any other reason why a con would outright ban a product, but it might be more like anime central has been liable for sticker removal/cleanup from the con center in the past and so have banned the sale of them, and anime magic has not had that experience in the past so they haven't banned them? so like... banned indirectly because of the event center. but this is only speculation, i'm not sure! (i know that, for example, magfest and katsucon are at the same venue but magfest allows sticker sales while katsu does not, because katsu has had problems in the past while magfest has not, so I'm just thinking it's something similar.)
anyway this was a lot of words but no matter what reason, it's definitely frustrating when cons ban stickers! 😢

@@magpiesoddities okay actually i just looked it up and it looks like Katsu is allowing stickers for 2023! but i remember in previous years they were for sure banned haha. so hopefully ACEN will change too!

I got one of your heisenberg Keychains at the con.
The whole mask situation was extremely frustrating. Most of my friends already had their badges in hand when this was announced. It wasn't like they could just choose not to go, and someone them might not go to this event again because of the conventions poor communication.
I love this con, and have gone for years but the event this time was just not planned well. It felt like a lot of the staff and volunteers had no clue what was going on half the time.

thanks for purchasing! and yes i agree with you completely! i think a lot of staff genuinely /didn't/ know what was happening unfortunately, and i wonder if that was because of changes made from higher-ups in the con itself, or the convention center policies, or what. but that's too bad that it was disorganized from an attendee perspective too :( hopefully things will be back to normal (organization-wise) next year.

@@glitchbat we had a situation where we were trying to get the 18+ wristbands and no staff member knew where the were being handed out at. Each staff member kept telling us a fully different location until they eventually said they might have been moved to one of the hotels. It's not hard to use a radio and be like "hey, where were the 18+ wristbands moved to" and you couldn't go to those panels without the wristbands, even if you had a valid ID on you (stupid system). They said it was to cut down on time, it took they 10 seconds to look at an ID for one of the panels ( the event wasn't marked as 18+ in the guide so they had to allow for ids)
