Jesus Wept! Albert Tatlock just made Minnie Caldwell add another sugar and it was literally in front of him!😂 Someone like him would drive you nuts, but he's bloody funny!
The scene with Minnie & Albert at 19:08 is one of the best scenes I've seen. By God, seeing them argue could make anyone laugh. I love how Minnie stood her ground and had a go at him at the end, he deserved it! As funny as Albert is, he'd be a right pain to live with. Bless Minnie Caldwell, she was so cute and sweet. One of the best characters in my opinion
To differentiate the class element between both barmaids. Elizabeth to elevate that she's far classier than Bet, who is far more common, in Annie's eyes.
Yes - New Years Eve or Hoggmanay as we call it here in Scotland it is said to be good luck for the first person to walk through your front door after the bells of midnight to be tall dark and handsome - he was expected to bring with him a lump of coal tho i dont think thats expected now we all mostly have electric heating or gas central heating - he would then participate in a feast of steak pie followed by blackbun and whisky - on the last day of the year it was customary for the lady of the house to clean and scrub everything in sight to bring the new year in with a clean hoose (Scottish for house)
Great early cast and thoroughly enjoying all these golden oldies.Thank so much👍👍
I'm T W E N T Y-T W O episodes the richer! Thanks, Auntie, for every single one of them!

it’s a shame we never got to see the Joe Donnelli thing in colour like the rest of 1970
I love the way the crew on set cough ,sneeze etc during filing lol
Yes and the ubiquitous pencil dropping on the floor. Usually from behind some lackey's ear no doubt.
The first time we hear of Mrs Walker and the Elizabeth/Bet issue explained.
"What you gonna do? Get me dad to walk up and down chanting 'only the slags sup in here'?"
Flamin Nora! My favourite Street catchphrase. 🥰🤣
I just love Hilda singing lol
And how she used to muddle up her words. My favourite was "they've got some of that paraquat flooring too!"🥰
@Coronation Street Storyline Peter Susan bullshit
The amount they drank on this show. 3 Gin and Tonics for lunch, back for dinner for more....
I did that when I worked in London during the 80's, most people did.
Usually a pint with a meal.
No wonder Len and Alan became alcoholics..
@@darganx😂😂😂
The drayman at the start of this episode was played by Ken Jones, featured in Porridge and many other sitcoms.. died last year RIP.
Was 9 months old when this was on xx

She was sweet but a little simple I think, life's innocent.
Billy offers us a flash of manly chest and tantalizing bit of rug. 7:00. And a close call at 15:27.
5:27 Someone coughing their guts up off set.
Love ❤ you coronation street 1 fan micheál or music coronation street in Dublin
Irma is foxy
Ken Jones good actor
Ives from Porridge
Aaaah, thanks for that. It was driving me up the wall where I've seen him before : )
He was in lots of things. Ken Jones. Very good actor and quite versatile. 🥰
Ahh, the first time, she calls Elizabeth by her full name
Bet’s name is actually Theresa, but that just wouldn’t do, would it?
@@robertdoherty2001 That was Bet Lynch whose full name was Elizabeth Theresa Lynch
To differentiate the class element between both barmaids.
Elizabeth to elevate that she's far classier than Bet, who is far more common, in Annie's eyes.
And in the nineties there are THREE Elizabeths there. Betty Turpin, Bet Lynch, and Liz McDonald ( also an ‘Elizabeth’ )
So whats this about letting in the new year in the form of a relative or friend with dark hair?

Some Northern custom..
A dark haired man carrying a lump of coal walks in the front door and out of the back door. Was for luck
Its called First Foot In. My Dad used to do it every NY Eve. It brings in good luck. Out the back door, in the front.
Why nothing about Christmas?? No New Year’s Eve celebrations??! Awful!!
Kinda weak story arcs now that Joe Dinelli is done.
