GAEREA is one of my favorite black metal bands at the moment, their last album MIRAGE is TOP tier., it has a lot of ups and downs, HIGHLY recommended. Der Weg Einer Freinheit, GAEREA, Black Braid, White Ward and Wolves in the Throne Room are carrying the torch for modern black metal and its sooooo good to live in this timeline.
Glad you liked this so much despite it being black metal! They do really have a sound and feel very different from "normal" black metal, so it makes sense. Time to request full albums of 'em and disregard what you said about that!!!
Aodon is kinda like this in terms of their songwriting, conceptualizations and theatricality but they leave you a little bit of room to breathe. I would definitely recommend their most recent album Portraits.
Gaerea's great, glad to hear your analysis on them. I knew it was a matter of time until the black metal gang sent them your way, though I recall you checking out Deluge by them on a livestream earlier this year. Saw Gaerea on their first US tour this year, they're great performers, you'd have sworn they were the headliner rather than an opener. I don't know that I'd say Salve is the best off their newest album, though you couldn't really pick a bad song off it... I'd probably say Laude is my favorite off of it at the moment.
I saw gaerea in motocultor festival last summer, the style look like nothing and the singer is unbeliveble! my best discover! it was a suspended moment.
definitely the standout track from the album for me, don't get me wrong rest is solid but this is the one that wowed me, they were supposed to do a tour with schammasch and harakiri for the sky but it got delayed again and again due to covid and with the release of this album they went on their own tour while groza replaced them so i didn't get to see them
Hey man, i love your channel!! I just watched your Fugazi video, you should check out the band Citycop with the song X, very good band! short song, its goes well with the second song on the album Ode to Bula / Flight Lessons. Post-hardcore/acoustic/kinda prog! Cheers man! hope you'll check those tracks out :)
i love metal from non typical countries. they are from portugal and it makes me wonder what tragedy could have happened in a beautiful mediterranean town for them to start a metal band
If you want a portuguese metal album actualy based on a tragedy listen to Moonspell - 1755 , it refers to the year in which occurred the Great Lisbon earthquake, destroying the Portuguese capital and its surroundings.
HEHEHE!!! Funny that you think clarifying your opinions on this style is going to make any difference to what people recommend for you... Good luck with that then :)
I'd call this pretty straight-forward blackened death metal. Reminds me a lot of Behemoth. Mostly iterative, but very well-produced, played, and written at a high level. I enjoyed it, but I don't know if it inspired me to rush to check them out.
Saw those guys in August, and yes, the drummer steals the show. That guy is like a machine programmed by a genius!

Still reeling from show I caught last week, 11OCT23 in Baltimore. The whole show was epic, but GAEREA set the bar. Lifetime memory.
Thanks for reacting to a band from my country Portugal.
Love Gaerea. If you want to check out another one of theirs, try "Laude".
Dope 🤘 Cheers from Portugal !!

I saw them live in May this year and I was in tears after

Must have missed this one. I actually listened to this album today. Their song "Absent" is really good IMO. hehe
Check out "Evilon - A Warrior's Way"🤘

They are Portuguese, it is a tragedy in itself.
Would love a reaction to the new Baring Teeth singles! Some really good dissonant metal. Would love a reaction to the debut Fleshvessel album too.
“I like this” Haha glad you provided context that it’s within the realms of black metal.
I know I’m one that shares lots of BM. 😂
Pretty good song. Laude is my fave off the album though.
Harakiri For the Sky are a great band in this post black metal style, not sure if you've checked them out yet.

Yeaaahhh.....but maybe it helped a little bit 😅
I know that deeply inside you kinda enjoy black metal. Probably wouldnt listen to a full album at once though

Nice breakdown, subbed. Glad that you liked my least fav song on the album.
...still epic of course. We Are GAEREA!
Yall think they will be able to play this in 40 years like Metallica ???... 😮... If They do that will be very impressive indeed
Metallica is the worst band ever yo!I'd rather listen to french country music than Metallica yo!
@@henrydupuis5648 typical dumbass kids..dint know anything...😂
you analysis is spot on. which are the reasons why i didn't enjoy it.
