I hope this helps! I was cross trained in Lab and CMA due to covid but I enjoy helping others 🙂 Cheers!

When I trained in MRI I had a note book 📓 to write down all the notes on positioning, scan planning and even some pictures I drew. I also bought a MRI and CT pathology book, which is very helpful because if you see certain pathology you have to call a Radiologist because that pt may have Togo straight to the hospital. Also in the book it tells you what protocols to run. I bring lunch, snacks, headphones, gum, vitamins, water and thats about it 😄 Sometimes I bring my drone or skateboard haha for my brakes
Good luck with your journey. MRI can be a pain in the beginning but if you worknhard and you are interested you get way better.

X-ray machines with remotes are so cool when you first see them. Then you use them for a while and realize they decided to ignore the ergonomics completely (because it has a remote??) and it's harder to move manually than any other machine.

Have 7y of CT & RX experience. It takes maybe 1-3 weeks to learn all the possibilities of RX positions. However to learn CT scan, it will take several months to be really good at it (knowing how to scan, which procedure to use, and how much contrast/delay is required before the scan happens.)
I dont know how fast the workload is, but at my hospital we do like 30-35patiënt / 5h on CT scan. Than another 25 patiënt from 2pm untill 7pm. And than you are on call, during the night once a week. But you need to work the next day, now matter if you did get called. Cardiac, abdomen, thorax, orthopedic, ... with or without contrast. A CT scan can be completed in 2-3minutes. And it takes maybe 7min to get the patiënt in, hook him up on the contrast injector and leave the room (after checking his kidneys if they can even handle the contrast. You dont want to destroy some kidneys.)
In total we do like 300+ patient with 6 working nurses/tech a day. (including echo, mammo, RX and CT).
Now i'm being trained on MRI. I use www.mrimaster.com to help me. We work from 7am untill 0.00 pm to minimize the waiting list. Covering 3 shifts.
I wish you the very best learning CT & MRI. The most important to know, is what a coronal, sagital and axial view is and how you can get this through positioning the patiënt/Changing parameters on the CT & MRI scanners. We use Siemens. And for the love of god, check the kidney function, the dosage of contrast & confirm the name and date of the patiënt.
whats in my bag? Mostly snacks and water. You'll burn away those calories in no time, doing a job like this.

For MRI don’t wear your Apple Watch!! The magnet will strip the battery! Definitely purchase a digital watch off Amazon there are a bunch that are ok with the magnet !
