  • During the 1970's these amazing colour films provided a break in between the test card and the television trade information. It provided a chance to view some of the best freely available colour films then available. This mixed range of footage was often 'sponsored' as an indirect form of advertising, but these informative, usually beautifully shot colour movie features were indeed classics in their own right.
An informative film so typical of the period, made for 'The General Post Office' (GPO).
Full of information about the 'advanced' mail-sorting technology of the 1960's.
Starting off with the the posting of a letter and its onward journey.
Produced and directed by Ronald Spenser.
A 'Littleton Park Production' for The General Post Office

Haven't seen this Post Office film for well over 50 years. Narrated by Alexander John, who was an actor originally, and later narrated many of Anglia Television's award winning wildlife documentaries in their Survival series.

Seems very advanced tech for the era. Now we will be lucky if we shall still have a postal service!

Actually, the last trade test colour films were shown on BBC2 on 24 August 1973 so, as we say in Liverpool, you've had your eye wiped

Royal Mail destroyed by Simon Thompson in the race to the bottom on workers terms and conditions and left with a 700,000 pounds pay off after claiming the company was broke and the union believed him 😢
