My parents got officially divorced when I just turned 8. It all started when I was about 6 but they stayed together because they wanted me and my sisters to have both of there parents. But then one day my mom left and didnt come back.

My parents divorced, but the way it happened was they just yelled at each other, my mom took us to her parent's house, and that was that. That was four years ago and to this day they haven't officially told any of us that they're divorced, they just assumed we knew. I only found out two years later when my aunt was talking about their "split up". That was the one and only time I've heard anyone speak of it, and it confused me for two entire years before I even knew what was going on. Do your kids a favor and tell them directly, it's just as confusing and difficult for them as it is for you, if not more.

She's so underrated, I love having her all to ourselves but she deserves WAY more recognition. Her songs have always helped me so much through the tough spots in life and everyone helps me so much, every song literally relates to me so much, and her songs about family hit so hard. So many songs talk about romance but for me it's mostly my friends and family problems. I found out about her through tik tok and I don't regret it all. She's incredible ❤️ and I know which song is going to be playing on repeat for the next month *wink wink*

I know what it's like to have your parents be divorced but i was lucky enough to be to young to remember them fighting. But i still wish i could remember what it's like to have both your parents with you all the time. I was only a few months old when it happened, both found someone new.. and i grew up with memories of two bad relationships instead of one. My dad was with some for a VERY long time and she was apart of most my life.. and i wish she wasn't as caused me countless events that traumatised me, they broke up a few years ago. Meanwhile my Mum was in a even worse relationship. I am more then gald that man was out of my life much before my now ex stepmum. I survived three years of constant arguing, yelling, pain, fear, loneliness, annoyance and sadness. And i am finally back living with my Mum and my life is SO MUCH better, but I'm still expecting everything to change again. Sorry didn't mean for this to become a vent 😅

Never really had the formal talk. I was only six and I saw my dad get in a car. Echoing in my mind were the harsh words of my grandmother: "Your daddy doesn't want to live with you mommy anymore."
I cried countless times, I remember navy blue rooms with yellow light from the doorway and convulsing over my soggy pillowcase. I guess some part of me understood. That was my first heartbreak.
Years later right before hit a wall with my happiness, that my dad took me on the back of his bike down to Virginia Beach, I cried that day as he asked me if I knew why, the day he explained that my mother felt her religion had failed her, that her mother had failed her, how she had failed herself.
That was the day It began to heal, though two years before I had wept behind a temple as a blonde and foreign woman married my father, from whom I had carried the torch of raising my younger siblings. Nobody noticed. my grandma said nothing but "come on" as she took me back to the cars. I think she saw.
That night was a party for everyone but me. My cousins excited to have a new set of kids, my aunts, and uncles happy to see two divorced people finally get the spouse they needed after they had fallen in love in a few weeks in California. I just drowned myself in cake and held so dearly to my dad as everyone around us dance in my new grandparent's backyard.
They went on, me resenting her, her trying her best until eventually I was ready for her and she was miserable. I have compassion for her but the way she argues with my dad and makes me feel almost as weak as my own mind does, keeps me at my Mothers house.
They had children, children that I was sure both she and my father loved more than me. And now I know both is untrue but that does not change how scared I am all the time. i'm afraid to talk to her, she couldn't even help me with my first tampon, she was angry even then, then when my mind was like a shattered bottle thrown into a pool. I guess hers was to.
I remember sixth grade, people apologizing. It's all right, I said, it's been six years it doesn't matter anymore.
Now it has been nine, and I feel okay with it now. It was for the best, but the reward doesn't fully make up for the cost.

Your voice and the melody of this song are so soothing but it's so heartbreaking. I feel bad for anyone going through the struggles of divorced parenting. I know in some ways them being divorced is easier than dealing with the arguments, but it's still sad and I'm sorry.
