I'd argue hunter doesn't have a redemption arc? I mean personally I think hunters arc is more about getting out of an abusive situation and finding his own identity- it's interesting especially compared to zuko or amity, because unlike zuko, who is very prone to rage and violence, hunter at no point seems to want to hurt anyone and is more prone to fear. hunter acts out of self preservation considering its heavily implied if he fails a mission he gets physically abused, but we never see him actually being cruel and causing harm for the sake of it or being very violent. most of what he does that's wrong is threatening violence and stealing palismen, and he does this to avoid getting physically abused.

Dana Terrace is the creator of The Owl House, she worked in Gravity Falls and dated Alex Hirsch for some years, they broke up like 2 years ago and they are still friends, and Alex works in The Owl House, he voices many characters in the show, the main ones being King and Hooty, both shows have a really similar humor.
Yeah it has a bit of a Gravity Falls feel to it, though there's some noticeable differences. Like, Gravity Falls was very centered around Dipper and Stan's male pov, but this show feels more about a female/nb pov.

Abomination magic is said to be the most versatile of the types of magic, since it has many uses. It's not just about controling abominations, but rather the ooze that composes them. That's why Willow's parents told her to ingress in the Abomination course, even if her talents is on plant magic. Amity is very talented on abomination magic and she will surprise you with what she can do with it. Here's a tease to her skills... Amity is voiced by Mae Withman, Katara's VA whose fighting style is actually... quite similar to Amity's.
I think it also comes down to the fact that the abomination coven is much more respected than most of the other covens, tons of shade is thrown at covens like illusionists and bards who have great uses but abominations are glazed so much in universe that being in that coven seems to make you a higher social status if Amity’s parents are anything to go off of. To me Willow’s situation feels like a magical equivalent of pushing your super talented artist kid to go to med school because you want them to be a wealthy high status doctor instead of a starving artist, it’s based on the way real world professions and skills are ranked and assigned status roles that are largely arbitrary. If any magic is probably the most versatile I’d say bard magic or maybe potions, abominations are kinda mid but I’d see versatility being used as a bs in universe answer for witches to confirm their already held bias that abomination witches are superior.

Owl House is definitely one that I was lukewarm on (aside from Willow, she was an instant fave), but it is now one of my all-time faves. The character building is a fun time, and it sets up a lot of stuff for when the plot gets thick.
Despite not being the creator, the influence of Alex Hirsch is strong is strong in the show for a few reasons. 1) Dana worked on Gravity Falls and 2) Dana and Alex had been dating for about 5 years with this came out. They've since broken up (around 2022 or so), but seem to have remained friendly.
Speaking of Gravity Falls, it absolutely holds up imo. I was a film major in college around the time it was airing, and the number of peers that I either found out were into it or recruited to my cause was great. I wrote a couple of papers for some classes on it because no one could stop me, and it turns out one of my professors was a fan, too 😅

These messages aren't necessary the _most important_ part of the show, but I promise they do relate to the show's story in an interesting way.
The code for episode 2 translates to "Witches"
The code for episode 3 translates to "Torn"
So far the message is "Two witches torn..."

You can find it by looking at the secret code message in each episode, it reads an eye (beginning on all the codes to show its not something random) with a symbol that looks like a T, then there is two circles above eachother like an 8. If you read that together it become too (two)
