Thank you so much for posting this! I am making a cosplay and have been so frustrated at the sailor collar. Pattern instructions were too confusing. Your method seems much easier and almost like cheating. I am using this.

I'm really impressed with how she altered that Simplicity sleeveless jumper into the finished dress.
Wishing I had the time and money to do this... I have a malfunctioning sewing machine that's not a serger, so if I tried it would be extremely messily done. Using this for future reference if I get one, though! :)

Leftie Owens I made my prom dress by hand and it took me two weeks to do what my sewing machine could do in two hours (and if my sewing machine was not so mediocre, I could have sewn that lace on in twenty minutes).
Getting a sewing machine is worth it. Not the one I have, which I bought for 150$CAD but there's better ones for cheaper that should be worth the price (excluding serger sewing machines which are crazy expensive).
It's your choice, but I believe you are pretty damn skilled if you can do stuff by hand in such a short amount of time. :)
I have been binge watching your sewing series. They're the best! I can't get enough and how easy you make them to follow. I've learned so much in a Short time! Thanks for making these tutorials and can't wait to see how much more creative you are.

This is sooo cute. I know some people are hating on you and saying that you copied the dress but I don't believe that. A lot of designers get inspiration from like Lolita stores and they make a dress with 1 or 2 designs and add a bit of detail of there own. That way the design is there own.

aniMeQueen Fischer well it depends on your size but I think maybe 1.75-2.25 yards of blue and probably .25-.5 yards of white

Zidonia it's called inspiration people. I get inspired by a lot of Lolita dresses and I take one idea from a bunch of Lolita dresses and make it into my own. There is a difference between copying someone's ideas and getting inspired by someone's idea. In copying you make every single detail and every single color the other person did that's copying but inspiration is different it just gives you 1 or 2 ideas.
