I think the two Dark Portal statues are supposed to represent Kil'Jaedin and Archimonde. The orc warlocks didn't know what their mysterious gods looked like at the time, since revealing their form meant revealing that they and the draenei were the same race, so the orcs built them in cloaks with burning green eyes to represent their faceless masters.
The original Azeroth portal (which we see in CoT and Warcraft II) was built by Medivh, who was possessed by Sargeras at the time, so he had no desire to adorn the frame with statues of his subordinates. When it was destroyed and rebuilt later by the Horde, they rebuilt it with the statues to match the one on Outland.

Fun fact about the Hinterlands gryphon statue: in the old, unreleased Warcraft point-and-click adventure game you can actually find the statue in the background when Thrall visits the dwarves. Not much of that game can be considered canon but at least the gryphon was already there in the 90s!

I once heard someone say that you can learn just as much from a culture based on what they have forgotten as you can from what they remember. And that is what makes the mysteries so interesting. This world has existed for so long, so many things have happened, that they can have a giant statue that is partially destroyed and they just... forgot what it was. It is a small detail of worldbuilding that makes the world feel so much bigger

The Watcher statues next to the Dark Portal, and you can find them also in Nagrand (Twilight Ridge) and Caverns of Time, and more places. They were confirmed in Shadowlands when I played the Revendreth storyline, that they are the Nathrezim a.k.a Dreadlords. They were the ones to inspire or persuaded Sargeras to make the Burning Legion, and they are the Watchers. Hooded because they don't wan't to be recognized as creatures from the realm of death.

I think the beauty of this video series is that it consistently manages to pique the viewers' interest in random parts of the game that they might not otherwise have given a second thought. In this regard, "pointless" could be taken to be relative - as in, the items featured in the lists might *appear* to be pointless to many people, but could have deeper meaning or historical value once you look into the lore, development history and map geography.
Maybe the point is that, after watching the show, we realize that the items aren't so pointless after all.

As far as the two human statues in the dungeon they are: one of the many statues of Daelin Proudmoore (if you look at newer versions you'll really see it) and a copy of the statue of Turalyon (the kind of hard to miss statue at the front of Stormwind).

Personally I'd like for both the dark portal and ravencrest statues to simply be statues. Like the statue of liberty doesn't represent anyone, rodan's thinker doesn't represent anyone, they're just supposed to be powerful figures in and of themselves. Maybe they represent ideas or feelings. I think its important for lore to not be totally explored and explained so the player can fill the gaps in themselves.

a lot of these feels like things a DM threw into their world when starting off cuz they sounded cool, and then like 5 years down the line their play group matures and start asking lore questions and the dm has to come up with something that kind of makes sense. I think the portal statues were thrown in cuz they had a cool idea for the art, and figured they'd hand wave it as dark ritual mumbo jumbo.

The satutue at 9:30, is definetly a refferance to the colossus of rhodes, one of the ancient wonders of the world in real life, and most likely a refferance to the incredibly famous painting depicting the statue in pieces on the harbor near the sea, after a large earthquake taht caused the statues destruction. (btw the story of the colossus of rhodes is incredibly interesting and i highly recommend checking it out)

For as much hate as SL gets, I’ve always thought the massive statue of the Primus in Maldraxxus was super cool. When we got the preview of the zone and I saw that huge figure, I thought it was going to some kind of temple that we’d visit in a raid or dungeon. Turns out it was the hub for the Necrolords! Not as adventurous, but still cool!
I also really like the massive winged statue at the top of Castle Denathrius in Revendreth. It always evoked “final boss” territory when I saw it and I always imagined it would come alive and we’d have to fight it like a boss from Shadow of the Colossus. Again, not quite how it turned out, but the imagery is still evocative!

Would be neat if #1 turned out to be like some sort of void creature somehow whenever we get to the inevitable void vs. light expansion... I mean all the other expansion ideas have basically entered the game already in some form and those look like they could be some sort of void knight wraith creatures... South Seas expansion basically became BfA, the Emerald Dream stuff was like a part of Legion... We just had the dragon isles expansion... And the only other idea I've heard get floated around aside from light/void would be the expansion where something crazy happens on Azeroth to where Hogger rises up or something and like besieges Stormwind in an alliance with the kobolds or something like that... But idk if Blizz has the balls to make an expansion like that...

    About the Dark Portal stautes:
I've always thought they reminded me of Tyrael from Diablo. I'm not exactly a master in Blizzard lore or anything but I understand that Tyrael is/was an angel. Maybe angels in the Blizzard universe/lore are universal and reach across different universes and the statues represent them. Just like we have our own vision of angels and such in the real world.
I cannot explain WHY exactly they would be angels but it's what I've been thinking.
