  • In this video, I will show you how to create depth of field and motion blur effects in 3ds max. We will go in-depth with these topics and I will let you know everything about them. It could be helpful for beginner photographers as well.
I will demonstrate everything with Corona renderer but it applies to all the other render engines as well. I hope you like it and find it informative.

Of course It always helps to have a better computer but you can start with what you have... You can just upgrade it as you go...

It takes lot of time to render a scene rather than vray in my computer configuration

Hello i hope you see this in time. I am having an issue where in my renders ..using vray denoiser with the motion blur. My cars in the scene render fine with a nice motion blur to it. Now the problem is my lawns and trees end up looking smudged up like the lawn or tree is an oil painting ..so my question is this supposed to happen?..is there a way this can be done with the vray denoiser or is it impossible. I hope my question is clear and hopefully you haveva solution

Sorry I know it’s not on time but here’s the solution… you need to add a cryptomatte element to your elements and after rendering you can create a cryptomatte mask to your denoiser and only pick the car and it will only denoise the car not anything else. If you don’t know how to do that watch this video on the channel: Exterior lighting in 3dsmax: how to setup perfect lighting in minutes.
I’ve described how to add this type of mask in that video.

@@HMSTUDIO2020 Thanks for the reply . Seen the other tutorial but for some reason The denoiser element seems like it cannot be masked the option is grayed out and there is no option to add a layer mask on the denoiser element.

shutter speed should be set to double your frame rate

For videos yes. It will result in the most natural motion blur which is the equivalent of what our eyes sees and makes the animation look more natural. I wouldn't do that in photography. It all depends on what do I want to achieve :)
