This is amazing and very informative. Filming our elder's history is very important as it can be archived for many years so that those who never got to meet these amazing individuals can watch and learn. Okuhepa muatje ua Karirao.
I would like to be able to understand what she is saying, any short description possible? I am interested in learning more about Otjiherero culture. Beautiful voice, many greetings!
In this video she is basically telling us where she was born, where she grew up and the praises of these places. She is telling us about how she moved around, and who raised her. She was born in a place called Okombumbi, she had 3 siblings. When she turned 4 , they moved to a place called Omawewozonjanda. Her mother’s sister took her and raised her in another place called Ohakavena. She left school early and got married to my grandfather.
When she turned 12 years old, the woman that raised her returned her to her birth mother , she started schooling Omawewozonjanda, from grade 1 to 3 and then dropped out of school. By then she was engaged to my grandfather and got married when she turned 18. They then moved to the farms and worked for a white man. In 1971 they moved to a place called Otjombinde because of drought. Then she was 31.
