Dude! fixed my raid 0 even though no drive was disconnected. saved me tons of data recovery and 2 weeks of work to rebuild windows, and linux dual boot. Damn good video!!
+Zaileion Asus Wow, this is great to hear, thanks for taking a moment to leave this feedback, it really helps others out too. Just noticed over 5,000 viewers for a ultra-niche topic, wow! Maybe it's not that niche after all.
Hi Mr. Braren, Thanks for your video about IBM MegaRaid Bios Configuration. This helped me a lot for changing a bad drive in my RAID 1 configuration. Best Regards from Switzerland. R. Funk
Actually I got a missing backplane a lot with one particular drive, I don't know why. But your video help me already many times. I know the process already by heard.
Seems like this bios is the same exact as the server we have. Do you have any information that could help with how to replace all the drives one by one with new ones?
the key is that I thought that "make unconfigured good" will kill all Raid information on it, indeed u can mark it as online afterwards again. Brilliant.
Hi Paul, I have accidentally remove the one of raid configured hardd rive and it shows now unconfigured . How can resolve the issue? It would be appreciated for your help. Thank you.Sam
Thank you for your video! I have a question I am hoping you or someone can please help with. I attempted to follow your video, but it didn't explain in detail the "Drive Group MIssing Row" pull down menu and how to know which drive is which. I have 4 drives in my Raid 5 array: Slot 4 (Port 3) Slot 5 (Port 2) Slot 6 (Port 1) Slot 7 (Port 0) The two drives in my array which it thinks are missing (due to a temporary power loss from the SATA cables being disconnected) are these two drives: Slot 6 Slot 7 In the pull down menu to the left of, "Replace Missing PD" for me I can pick between: Array 0, Row 2 Array 0, Row 3 I assumed that my Slot 6 corresponded to Row 2, so I picked that. I made it online. I then noticed in the logical view screen I had the online Slot 6 as I expected, but instead of the Slot 7 missing still showing, it showed Slot 6 missing (so it had a Slot 6 showing as online and in addition to that it had a Slot 6 showing as missing). I assumed at this point that I must have picked the wrong row? I am not sure how to know which Row is the correct one (I don't actually fully understand what the Row is referring to, not the port I guess?). I am hoping for help with figuring this out. I don't have a backup of this raid array unfortunately, so I am a little worried. Thank you for any help you or anyone can provide.
Hi Paul. Can u help me with a defective disks? i need to obtain an DB backups from a virtual machine from this! it´s extremely urgent.. Thanks for your time!
Wow, 3 years old, I had no idea how many people had watched this until just now. Seemed like a rather niche topic when I created it, but glad I did, thanks for the comment!
So I had this Problem a couple of times, always happing after my Computer was unpluged from power (for example when I was in holiday) When I leave it pluged when switched off the problem doesnt occur. So maybe it has something to do with the internal storage not saving the settings. I leave the PC pluged and didnt have the problem since some years now.
im im right, simply tun the drive to "unconfigured good" and then "make online"? Wow... i thought my drive was lost once two raid 5 drives where gone due to power outage maybe...
@@TinkerTry You shouldn't mark the drive as online, if you replaced a failed drive using this scenario because it's only rebuilding if the drive is marked as offline and you chose "Rebuild Drive" BEFOR marking it as online.

Thank you for this video. This has happened at least three times with my array and each time I've used your video to recover.
Worked with 2 drive accidentaly unplugged
you saved my life thank you !!!
Really good step by step instructions and clear voice presentation. You helped me tremendously, Thank you.
Thank you so much this worked. I accidentally bumped a sata cable and the raid was having issues but this fixed it.
Perfect procedure 😊.
Made our old server working again in 5 minutes
Yay, that’s great to hear!
@@TinkerTry only ine thing to improve: You could insert a comment, first rebuild before setting online.. i think this was mentioned below also.
Thank you so much Paul for taking the time to post this video.
I was so frustrated and lost on this one.
j lo Glad it worked out! I had no idea so many people looked at this old video until just now, wow, that's a lot of folks with LSI usability woes.

Thank you for this! Just saved my butt!
Good to hear, even years later!

Question: What do you use for remote connection?
I'm speechless! Amazing! It's works! Thank you!
Thank you so much Paul. Excelent video!
+Bruno Vilalba Very niche topic, glad it's still helping folks like yourself, even 2 years later, thanks for the feedback!
Thanks buddy, exactly what I needed.
Hello Paul. Your video save me!! Thank you!!!
Great video, LSI has the worst GUI and CLI of all time!
There should be an award for that distinction ;-)

I'm sorry, I don't know off hand, it's been years since I used this card. I'm hoping you've contacted LSI support on this one.

Many thanks...Tried different ways of removing back pane, changing HDD, changing cables did not help... Hope this clears pd missing error.

5:10 what does it mean if mine says "one virtual drive(s) handles by bios" ?
Thank you very much. Great video!

Why are you transferring it from offline immediately to online, and not doing a rebuild?
Was trying to save some time? Sorry, this was recorded so long ago, and you make a good point. I just don't have a good answer.

My pleasure!
Thank you
thank you..it's work
3:10 все пишут что MakeOnline делать нельзя ни в коем случае, т.к. все данные потеряются, и делать только Rebuind Drive при замете диска в Raid
you are a beauty! thank you so much for this?
