Oh my - you had me interested until you started talking about Roundup. You should have the food you are growing after the rye for glyphosate - bet you'll find a lot.
My humble opinion. Was sold ryegrass as highly palatable and good protein grass for heavier soils. Birds relocate seeds to other fields. Huge problems as doesn’t mature the same as companion forage. Nothing but a weed you can’t get rid of and poor forage (straw). Would never recommend anyone trying ryegrass for any reason. Way too hard dealing with consequences

Roundup doesn't do a good job but a light dose of gramoxon usually works good
