      Write a story. Draw a picture. Creating something really is just a matter of getting up and doing it.
      Making something *good,* on the other hand, may require some practice.

      Start learning to knot paracord. You can make all sorts of stuff, and you don't need expensive tools to start, just paracord and a lighter.

    70 odd years ago my grandfather made a fillet knife out of three hacksaw blades and I wouldn't take a million dollars for it!

    This may be one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen. It’s beautiful but not only that. It’s WICKED sharp. I usually don’t like wood handles but that thing is beautiful. You sir are a true craftsman.

      ​@JakeyBro69 I also don't like wood handles. I think for me it's just an aesthetic. G10, carbon fiber, aluminum, titanium, polymer, etc. are what I own in all my knives. I also don't like wooden stock guns. I know I'm boring but (black) polymer ftw.

      Definitely cut it slightly in the middle in the back so no one could see, considering how much pressure was applied, which wasn’t much.

      Files are hardened so hard that it becomes brittle thus making it easy to snap but hard to scratch. The reason why its hardened to the point where it easily broken is so that it can work on steel since most steels are hardened (dunked in oil after heating) then softened to the right hardness (oven) and files arent softened to the most durable hardness.

      It's for tempering, that's what gives the line above the edge in the end. It cause the spine heat slower then the edge. It's what's used in traditional katana forging.

      Obvious cut and files are brittle, it's fairly easy to snap them like this (well, not exactly the same way, but you can do it with just your hands)
      It can happen even if you drop it on solid hard surface

      @user-ej4eq5im4r me personally I've never found files to be overly brittle, I know they aren't the toughest steel in the world but I ain't never seen nobody just snap one barehanded without cutting it first.

    You were supposed to use clay on the part you used concreate and that method is supposed to be used for damascus knifes to enhance the layers color

    Absolutely beautiful this is amazing work. The only complaint I have, and I am not a blade smith so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt, is that I would give it a full tang instead of a rat tail so it is less likely to snap since this is a hunting knife and will most likely go through some tough work. But all in all this is a great knife made by a highly skilled craftsman.

    We need to clarify something: if it requires tools that the average person does not have lying around (ie: a forge, anvil, or belt sander) it is not DIY.

      нож из нержавейки из за добавления хрома 10,5-15% не так сохраняет свою остроту как нож из углеродистой стали, да, он нержавеет и более упругий, но и точить его приходится часто
