In our part of t he country Bridgeport’s bring premium prices, my mill is a Lagun and it was in great shape when I bought it, I’ve had it 4 years now and give $4200 for it. So $600 for an BP in the box isn’t bad

Thanks Jim for the comment. Thought about you the other day. Dirt Racing is starting up here now in the Midwest. I'm ready to see some of your racing videos again this season. The Old Man

Bought 4 mills in the last couple years. 2 genuine Bridgeports. And one 1992 Clarke (taiwan import). And another one with no tags on it. The first Bridgeport was like yours except fully assembled. Paid $1100.
The second was an older model that was redone with ball screws to prep for cnc conversion. That one came with the slotting head and cost me $125. The Clarke mill was $2000 in a private sale. The other mill was $350.
Not sure where you're at. But the fact that I'm a half hour from the epicenter of Bridgeport mills: Bridgeport Ct. may give me an unfair advantage? Or some crazy luck.
I can confirm that the west coast prices stupid high. Junk Bridgeport machines have asking prices of $3000.00+. Even when completely rusted to shit. But then the people over there on the far waste coast are messed in the head.

I paid $1,300 for a Bridgeport that needed total physical restoration (not mechanical) and I thought I was getting a great deal. I did get lucky that it was a lightly used machine and only had an issue with the power downfeed. BTW: I sold it for $2,350 a few months afterwards, then bought a Monarch 12CK to work on...

Small shops have to take advantage of sales I know exactly how you feel every dollar has to be accounted for and every purchase justified nice score best of luck

Awesome scores! Gotta love a good auction. Last one I went to saw about 25-30 carbide endmills sell for 10-15 a piece so I'd say you did good! Also would gladly give you your $600 back for the Bridgeport if your getting some buyers remorse!! lol
Thanks for sharing and welcome back!

I think 600 bucks is great! Might actually be close to scrap cost, even :-)
Here's hoping the spindle/quill/bearings are in as good shape as the dovetails looked!

Some great auction scores. I wonder if new stricter EPA regulations were the final nail in the coffin so to speak on the foundries?

Im not sure about the foundry side. It just hurts me to know that machine shops are going out of business because over sea labor is way cheap.

I envy you the hardness tester! I also said "250" in my head for the carbide and drawers, so i guess we're calibrated to a good deal :-)
Also, anything that comes is wooden boxes is likely to be good!
