Love your teaching today on color theory. I love art, and am completely self taught, no art classes what so ever growing up. My mother was a fantastic Artist, unfortunately I lost her 2 yrs ago. I was blessed to have inherited all of her art supplies from her art room which consisted of a library of books, brushes, paint, etc from a lifetime. I watched her growing up, we painted together and so on, but I do not share in her talent. I miss her terribly. Anyway, she left me things that she had sketched out on canvas with notes on them for me to try...folders with pictures as reference and instructions. See, she had suffered with Alzheimer’s disease. I think when she was first diagnosed she began to get these things together, because she always told me her Art studio materials would come to me. This is why I need to learn. So I can paint what she left me. Also, I love the way you say a prayer on your canvas before you create over it. God bless...

This is great. I'm glad I found your channel! I've just started painting as a new hobby during the pandemic, so I've not been able to go take any real lessons in person since nothing is open. But this is pretty awesome for a lesson from home! So much better than most of the videos that are out there that are all just sped-up videos of people painting without any instructions. I love abstracted flowers and plan to do lots of them, so this is a huge start for me. Thanks!

Beautiful painting and great lesson on abstracting an object. Question: if you were going to change the roses to a blue and purple color scheme, would you tint the gray differently? Maybe something warm to contrast?

There is a problem with the camera following your hand all the time, as we are much slower than you, we watch you paint, then copying, I found when I try to paint, your camera has moved to mixing the paint, I wonder if your camera don’t move all the time, like Ginger cook that her paint is inside and the canvas is in the camera all the time. Thank you!

a “non-artist” that loves to paint 🎨 I do have a question about brushes.....I have flats and you always use brites. I have ordered your cats tongue and couple others. Do I need brites instead of flats?
Flats are basically the same except the bristles are a bit longer, so if those work for you that is fine. 💖💖

What would be a good spray varnish to use? I tried one that said it was non yellowing for paintings, but it still kinda felt tacky long after the fact. This was awhile ago. The painting was not impasto.

how long does rregular acrylic paint take to dry and do I seal it
It depends what you mean? To dry so you can varnish? You should wait at least 72 hours. And varnishing is a personal preference. But varnishing can even up the finish of the painting and protect it from dust/moisture, etc. 💝
