Wake shouldve lost the moment he was "missing a dot" in the math question. Literally makes no sense especially considering you wont need decimal values in that situation. Also, bro went on a monologue to move to the next question. If its a draw, it will automatically happen so why is he in such a hurry? Dont see any point in him trying to move on without seeing the answers xD
To be fair, I understand the monologue. They basically just kept adding time to something he definitely didn't know. They should have ended it on the first timer and taken whatever was locked in, which was nothing. Neither one of them locked in, which is why they kept adding time even though wake had already conceded.

Tbh ending was definitely controversial. I'd say Wake did deserve the win, but Miz does need to have more firm rules in place for what counts as an active answer written by contestants, having a firm time limit on the clock (not adding additional time mid question) and maybe a rule about contestants speaking to eachother while the clock is running.

It sucks cause realistically she had the right answer and the reason wake wanted to skip is because he didn’t know it. She just should have said no but her not saying anything let it become an issue, because Wake “stopped working” lol If she said something in that moment to say that she wanted to answer instead of intentionally skipping. She would have won. RRRROUGH. Glad he put them both in though, it was probably the best call.

And if he really wanted to win at all cost he didn't have to say she could go on after not writing the answer about the prehistoric period
She did have the right answer within the two minutes, so yeah. But both of them believed they were adding time because neither had the right answer yet. In Wake's perspective this was unfair, because he didn't know the answer anyway, and he thought the extra time would let Emi get the right answer. This kind of explains his behaviour a little, even though maybe he should've composed himself a little.

Rightly annoyed because he would have to start trying again but doesn't really want to anymore, but he should only try again if she wants to kee pthe question, but she says nothing and says to wait. He peeked at the kid emily at 1:52:00 and then locked in his answer and played it off his answer was exactly the same as the kid without the decimal/dot. It was a whole number there was no decimal or dot and an extra zero at the end needed. Emiru won . but they are still gonna let him and emiru to the next round. He clearly loss

Btw the answer to that hardest math question is 100.
Let n = odd numbers. Consecutive odd numbers = n+2(k-1), where k = number in sequence. E.g., for the 1st number in the sequence (k = 1), n+2(1-1) = n+2(0) = n. The 2nd number in the sequence (k=2) being n+2(2-1) = n+2(1) = n+2, so on and so fourth.
For the first two consecutive odd numbers: k=1 and k=2, we have n+n+2 = 80 => 2n+2 = 80 => 2n = 78. Now, for the last two of 7 consecutive odd numbers (k=6 and k=7), we have [n+2(6-1)]+[n+2(7-1)] = [n+2(5)] + [n+2(6)] = [n+10] + [n +12] = 2n + 22. Rembering 2n = 78, we now have 78 + 22 = 100.
Alternatively, you can solve for n, which n = 39. Count the next odd numbers in the sequence. Find the 6th and 7th numbers in that sequence, which is 49 and 51, then add them (49+51 =100).
@@josejuarez3532 The way to do it manageably in your head is just think of it as the 1st, 2nd odd vs the 6th, 7th odd. The pairs are 5 odds apart so the difference in 1 number is 10, so the sum is the difference in 2 numbers which is 20. Add that to the original sum 80 and it's 100.

Emi should’ve gotten credit for that factor question. She had the answer on the board after the original 2 minutes. Then when given the extra 20 seconds, whichever time it was she put it again after crossing out and circled it. So she technically had the answer on the board both times. And Wake had no clue anyway. I might be missing something, but the question for 6th grade math says at the end of 3 hours. Which means the temperature would have dropped 4 times in total making the correct answer -16 degrees Fahrenheit.
If it was when it hits the 3 hour mark, then yes, the answer is -10, but since it specifically says "at the end of 3 hours" meaning the 4th hour is around the corner?

What a crazy episode. Wake's "I forgot the dot" weirdness could've been avoided. Wrong answer is wrong answer. Neither knew the mesozoic question. Wake cheated and pretended to be "stuck between two". Esfand did that several times in the first episode, and probably gave that tip to Wake. Emi then did the same thing, she couldn't even pronounce the word. Both clearly knew the other cheated.
The factoring question stuff was partially Miz/production's fault. If Emi had it right in the first two minutes, adding more time just made it seem like she didn't and they wanted to give her more time, because Wake didn't know it anyway. Which then made Emi think she was wrong, and made Wake feel treated unfairly. Which led to Wake's awkward proposal to both not put anything, and his frustration over her having the right answer.
Having said all that, I hope people don't take this stuff too serious. These weird little controversies are part of the charm of the show. If everything went smoothly it would be more boring. It's part of the immersion, as long as nobody makes it too personal or dramatic. It's just entertainment.
Not to mention factoring is only a thing taught in US schools. It's not an actual mathematical term that makes sense in that context.

@@izaaak281 but factor just means find a number this is divisible by. It's a super generic term in mathematics. The question is asking you to rewrite the expression without x^2. This is not factoring, but it is clearly labelled as factoring in some syllabus because you do technically end up with 2 factors of the expression. There are infinite factors like this if you want to unsimplify further.
He copied Emily's answer so it would be fair to copy her explanation with the missing decimal, Miz and production were fine with this.
@@DreamGamingS2 You're right, the point of factoring a function like this is just to split it up into two linear functions it is divisible by, they just follow the "textbook" factoring definition and the task isn't misunderstood we all know what it's referring to. This is taught outside of US too
