Frankly, the fault of this also lies in the idiocy of medals being decided in pool play. If this was a knockout round, an incident like this never would have happened, because there never would have been the temptation for the motivation-less Soviets - already eliminated from medal contention - to ruin Canadian chances at gold. Glad the World Juniors have changed.

Farber doesn't understand hockey. And no wonder, he was born and raised in the USA. Unless you grow up in hockey culture, you will never truly understand it. Thank God he mostly sticks with baseball these days.

Michael Farber is flat out WRONG... Seldom a maturity is found in 20 yr old kids - it is my first point... The second one is, he does not understand the code - it was not a fight, Russians were suckerpunching anyone around, it is their second nature and the code dictates that you will NEVER back up from such situation, unless you are coward and have no team spirit sense whatsoever...
Third one is - after the battle, everyone is a general...
Fourth and last one... Hockey is about Team, On-Ice-Justice, Hard work, and Dignity...
As much as I don't agree with Grapes on far MANY occasions, here it is plain B&W - Grapes is right and Michael disillusioned, at the very least...

3:18 does adopting international standards include wearing a poppy when coming to Canada 🇨🇦?

Michael Farber reminds me of the present sissy Prime Minister Canada has in Ottawa. Don Cherry should be Prime Minister of Canada today.

    1987 Canada agrees with Grapes
2019 Canada turns their backs on Grapes (who’s the blame? Rogers, Sportsnet and Cherry haters. 😡I blame you all!🖕)

Hockey Canada did not back up their players. Hockey Canada disgraced their own

No, sometimes you have to fight, diplomacy is all well in good, but when push comes to shove, you have to defend yourself. I fought in the Vietnam war, I remember I was a Corporal, and I saw that the North Vietnamese and the Vietcong were doing a gang up maneuver on our one flank, with the guys in my USMC unit, we ran as fast as we could to help our fellow soldiers we ended pushing the North Vietnamese back 20 miles, now this wasn't tactical or "rules thought", it was protecting our fellow United States Military comrades, did our unit get Medals? No. Did anyone get recognition of respect for their sacrifice? No. All us vets were shunned, ridiculed, cut loose, forgotten, or called "Child Murderers". Do they know how it feels to take a persons life, it makes you feel terrible, you grow to hate yourself, when your fighting you have to numb yourself or you'll end up killing yourself. It feels worse when you kill a child who is holding an AK-47 and trying to kill you, yet we had to kill to survive, the Vietnamese weren't going to show us mercy. Then us guys, we come home, and we're treated like crap, as if it was our fault the war started, we give our lives, our minds, our hearts for our country, than we are called the bad guys. People like you and Farber, think "Well, they shouldn't jump the boards, its against the rules. they should let their teammates get beaten up by the Soviets." Who had nothing to lose, after all, in their minds, they could not let a western team win. So they started a brawl. Those lads were out their fighting to save their comrades, like me and my Marines unit, rules take a back seat when people are outnumbered and could get badly hurt, or in my case, guys could die! Cherry is smart he played a long career in the minors that is the only way you can know hockey, College ain't gonna teach you that, the only books that can teach you are from former players. I played Junior Hockey in the early 60's, as an American in the Canadian junior Leagues, I had several solid campaigns, Grapes is completely when it comes to hockey he has a Doctorate in hockey, the only way you can get that is through lots of years playing hockey.

      You are a fucktard sissy.
I remember back in the 80’s criminologists actually encouraged that a woman being raped actually should NOT fight back and to just let it happen.

Cherry is a meathead, but he's correct in this instance. Even if "only 4" Soviet players came off the bench, you can't expect the Canadians on the bench to let their teammates get pummeled.
