great video - I bought one from the thrift store but too many nylon straps to tie to car. What do you do with this web of strap when you arrive to your destination and want to store the rack inside your vehicle before you pedal away?

They are to secure the bikes down to stop them from swaying

This is suitable for bikes with a traditional top cross bar, If using a full suspension bike we would reccomend using a false cross bar.
