    Lol seen this when you did a cleaning video and built one like it for easy maintenance on screen. I used the tunze 8811 white water proof lights. Been running 3 weeks now got to clean it this weekend.

    Hi there, have you found the 2 x 300w too powerful? And did the ‘snot’ stay away? Great content I appreciate what you do for the hobby.

    I have a small ATS on my 40 gal, been running for a few months. Like you did, I'm growing alot more brown slimy junk than green algae. But nutrients are low so I guess it's working.

      After a while, I was frustrated. A new clean screen with strands of hair algae carefully threaded into the holes along the top 2" was how I seeded the new sheet. That ended up being the way I got way better growth.

    my friend great job !! i’ve been running scrubbers for over 10 years. i’ve always known of their superior ability to remove bad nutrients.
    1.but are you still using the scrubber?

      @@meta4355 No, my display tanks tend to look clean of nuisance algae, other than valonia that is.

    I liked your video. One think I am not a fan of the filter sock. I am thinking if you have that Algae Scrubber with a good Protein Skimmer that you dont need to use the sock. any thoughts on this

    Wow that a beast of a algae subber. I built one from a 2.5 gal. At first it was a cheato roller i had it spinning but it soon turned into a algae block and stayed that way ever since. I just harvest some every month. Im building next sump to have area for refugium with something cool like pulsing xenia.

    Does this keep the algae from growing in the display tank?

    • @melevsreef
      @melevsreef  2 года назад +1

      Yes, this should definitely help in that regard. Any time you are growing algae in a refugium or scrubber, you are utilizing the fuel the algae needs to flourish. I've always considered it a good way to outcompete what wants to grow in the display. However, that doesn't mean you won't need a herbivores clean up crew.

    Awsome . I'm not running 1. No space under the stand I only have a 65g tank but I sure would love to have 1 on day.
    Tuffer to find in canada. I love how this one has a drawer only one if seen like it. The others you gotta disconnect the water and pull out the dripping sheet of algea out the top. I would hate that.
    JASON please increase production and get these into the Canadian market we need something like this.

    • @melevsreef
      @melevsreef  2 года назад

      It’s a system that’s been around two decades. It helps lower nutrients in the water by using them to grow nuisance algae on a screen where it can be removed easily, rather than in the aquarium where it just looks ugly.
