    Actually Irene Edenhofer. Singing studies with Mrs. Flam-Plomiënsky in Berlin and with Teresa Arkel in Milan. She made her debut in 1911 at the Stadttheater in Zurich, where she worked until 1914. She sang a large number of roles here, including Martha in Flotow's opera of the same name, Susanna in 'The Marriage of Figaro', Donna Elvira in 'Don Giovanni', the Queen of the Night in 'Magic Flute', Rosina in 'Barbier von Sevilla', Gilda in 'Rigoletto', Leonore in 'Troubadour', Traviata, the Baroness in Lortzing's 'Wildschütz', Marie in Donizetti's 'Regimentsdaughter', Nedda in 'Bajazzo', the four female roles in ' Hoffmann's Tales', Philine in 'Mignon' by A.Thomas and Zerbinetta in 'Ariadne auf Naxos' by Richard Strauss. 1915-16 she worked at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, 1916-1924 at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. In 1920 she made a guest appearance at the Vienna State Opera. From 1924-28 she was engaged at the Berlin State Opera. In 1916 she appeared at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the premiere of the opera 'Dame Kobold' by F. von Weingartner as Beatrice, in 1927 in Baden-Baden in the premiere of 'Das kleine Mahagonny' by K.Weill (as Bessie); In 1923 she sang the title role in the German premiere of Stravinsky's 'Die Nachtigall' in Mannheim, also in 1923 in Mannheim in the premiere of the opera 'Das Rosengärtlein' by Julius Bittner. In 1922 she was heard at the festival in the Sopot Forest Opera as Waldvogel in 'Siegfried', in 1924 and 1926 she made guest appearances with the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera in Holland. As early as the 1930s she was employed as an assistant director at the Berlin State Opera under Heinz Tietjen. At the Bayreuth Festival from 1934-42 she worked as a voice adviser, assistant director and assistant director. At the same time, she was a sought-after teacher in Berlin. After the Second World War she worked from 1947 to 1949 as director and stage director at the Landestheater Saarbrücken and headed the opera class at the music academy there until 1960. Later she lived in Baden-Baden, finally almost blind, in Wiesbaden.
