Brazil just had father's day and Rebeca paid homage to her mom, saying she was her mom and dad, and how everything she is now is because she was raised by such. An amazing woman! Their relationship is do beautiful. Her entire family stepping up to make her dresm possible is just so wholesome and inspiring
Tbh I feel like people are praising her brother qnd aunt a lot, but her mom really must've worked damn hard for her qnd her siblings. You gotta have a different kind of strength to be both mom and dad figure to your kids, keep pushing through a work that is oftentimes too much when compared to what one's paid for, while also raising them to be good kids. You can see good character shining through Rebeca's older brother and the way Rebeca speaks and interacts with others. Her mother raised her right.
I know there is only a few seconds on video shorts but the most important thing about her was left out, and that was between the 2016 Brazilian Olympics to 2022, she’d suffered 3 ACL tears and was about to quit but she persevered and the greatness came. Her technique is so good because she needed to protect herself against another injury or ACL tear.
And to add to that.. when she was just abt to give up & call it quits for good, Simone Biles called her & convinced her to not give up yet. That’s why they’re so close & Simone can even be heard cheering Rebecca on during her beam routine during team finals on live tv! She can be heard shouting, “come on, last one-you got this!”. They’re friends in real life.
