- The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office released bodycam footage showing the controversial arrest of an 18-year-old high school student in Tennessee after a bystander's video of the incident surfaced on social media. Deputies were called to East Ridge High School by a teacher after a student allegedly became aggressive when asked why he wasn't playing kickball in gym class. Authorities say a deputy got physical with the student twice when attempting to escort him out and used pepper spray when the student did not comply. Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garret said an internal investigation into the incident is being conducted. The student was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault.

If you were to actively endanger others it might be necessary for me to use pepper spray to subdue you, and I would be within my right to do so. But if I were to pepper-spray you while you were on your phone because you did not wish to interact with me, that would be assault and battery with bodily injury inflicted, which is a significantly worse offense than arguing with your gym teacher.
