  • The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office released bodycam footage showing the controversial arrest of an 18-year-old high school student in Tennessee after a bystander's video of the incident surfaced on social media. Deputies were called to East Ridge High School by a teacher after a student allegedly became aggressive when asked why he wasn't playing kickball in gym class. Authorities say a deputy got physical with the student twice when attempting to escort him out and used pepper spray when the student did not comply. Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garret said an internal investigation into the incident is being conducted. The student was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault.

Now you called a child out and not diminished him for not wanting to play kickball. Instead you’ve scared him for life but calling in a police officer that threw around by his hair for no reason, sprayed him in the face after he called his father to come and help him “feel safe”, and hammered a baton in his arms to take his backpack off while he was crying and saying he couldn’t breath from inhaled pepper spray. you're talking about the officer right? He conveniently left out the part where the officer taunted him on and escalated after he was told by the kid to not touch him. He also failed to describe a crime that warranted this amount of violence. He mentioned that the kid was loud and disrupted the whole gym, which... you know... Arguably the cop's presence disrupted the whole gym, but kids were playing basketball and enjoying their gym time just fine. the kid raised his voice a couple times... in a giant wide open gym where loud noises happen all the time... so some attitude and some non-compliance to unlawful orders and a but-hurt ego. the officer just couldn't refuse a challenge. "Or what?" x3. he says. after being told by an underage youth that his physical touch was not wanted. That's a cop who just can't let anyone go unless they lick his boots.
