As a soldier, this is the most realistic war movie ever. Everything done right down to the battle drills, radio comms, weaponry etc. brutal brutal movie. If you have PTSD stay away.
thanks for the heads up. Looks amazing but I'm in the 'stay away' crowd. Semper Fi
Notable that you didn’t say that the combat is realistic - because it’s highly unlikely you saw any. Except for outliers like Fallujah and Tora Bora, statistically Iraq and Afghanistan was safer than South Chicago. Statistically, a guy was more likely to die or be seriously injured working construction back home, or delivering cheese in a truck to Walmarts, than being a GWOT member. Most of the GWOT PTSD claims are horseshit money grabs. Preying upon the relentless propaganda (movies like this one) and the public’s ignorance.
@@KyleRollins420take it from someone who just seen it two days ago it's definitely not for everyone. I had the stomach to watch it. But they did those boys justice let me tell you
@@GrantDWilliams82 ok clown 🤡
@@warlordop713 Over the entire 20 years, the casualty rate was like 5 per day. You might be dumb enough to not realize that. Or evil enough to try to get civilians to not realize it. But that’s the fact. It wasn’t a war. It was us being the cops for 20 years.
Just watched it, incredible experience. Little details showing you people in extraordinary circumstances, not fluffed up Hollywood nonsense, just what happens when people who are warriors are at war.
Once the action starts, the movie flys by
Just saw it too it’s a microcosm of all the gunfights that happened I’d go again

Puts you in the shit and actually gives you the experience of an actual gun fight. It was amazing. Not that gun fu type of style haha. I'm glad I saw this in the best experience that it's meant to be seen, IMAX
This movie was one of the best ive ever seen. The sound design is second to none. Its not just a war movie, this is a horror movie through and through.
How is it a horror movie?
One of the best movies I've seen in years. Incredible. This is not your typical Hollywood war movie. You come out of this movie emotionally spent from the intensity.
Definitely a "edge of your seat" experience. And the authenticity of the guns and explosions??? Sheeessshhh
A24 is known for horror movies.
I felt like this movie used elements from horror films. Its less of an all out military action movie. And a thriller showcasing a moment in history.
If this is one of the best movies you've seen in years then you have a problem 😂
@@Diego-by8uq name a movie that in your opinion you think is better? How full of yourself are you bud? Acting like your taste in movies should set the precedent of what "good" is.

Black Hawk Down will be the best war movie ever! Next to SPR and Fury. But this one top tier for sure
@@Laneman-q1f It's too bad that Fury kind of crumbles in its last act. I'd add Apocalypse Now, Master and Commander, The Bridge on the River Kwai and Das Boot to that list.
@@Laneman-q1fFury is good if you can excuse some cliche tropes. Knew from the very beggining Norman was going to be the last one alive. "Oh this typist who for some reason was sent to be a coax gunner for a group of jaded tanker vets? Yup everyones going to die" lol
@@TheMaestro116 Master and Commander? I remember that movie being incredibly boring when I saw it in theaters, but that was quite a while ago maybe it's not as bad as I remember.
These are not just movies....these are the cleaned versions of the horrors the American government caused upon 5 million innocent Iraqis who didn't do nothing to Americans.
But your government staged a false flag attack for pretens for war......
First it was: hidden weapons of mass destruction
And after the war with 5 million innocent dead It was: sorry we couldn't find anything (bush himself)

Don't you all know judgement day is real coming??....you all really think there won't be an accountability for you willful ignorance??
I just got out of the movie in IMAX and what you feel in the trailer is dialed to 11 for 95 minutes, Solid mf film. One of the best if not, the best war films to date. There's a few out there but this is probably the most realistic and accurate war film out there. The actors did such a great job portraying the toll left by the events their characters had to endure in the real event. Ray Mendoza really did awesome translating what he knew to all the actors and they all did a great job applying it all. Solid 5/5 A24 has been killing the game and hope they continue to do so. Another thing that made this movie stand out from the rest is the sound design EVERYTHING in this sounded insane every crack and echo of near misses, to the explosions and deafening silence and muffled ambience afterwards.
Just saw it. Best depiction of FEAR I’ve ever seen in a war movie. There’s no “fluff” and no just straight mowing down of enemy soldiers. It’s about survival and how different soldiers react during combat. It’s intense and brutal and instead of the “fuck yea!” Feeling you get after watching movies like 13 hours and Fury, it’s more of a “fuck that” feeling as in thank God I never had to experience that and God Bless the soldiers that went through it. Anybody out there reading this, thank you so much for your service
“Thank you so for your service”? For what service? Invading another country based on lies? By now you should know that America creates proxy wars and we don’t even send out soldiers anymore, instead, we use other countries to fight our dirty wars killing many innocent civilians. Y’all need to wake up to reality. People who go to war for the government are not patriots, they’re mercenaries. You’re fighting for corrupt politicians, not the country.
I never went F yea in fury. I was rooting for my man germany
13 hours had survivors on set that said scene to scene exactly what happened. I know the explosions were exaggerated but kill count and scenarios were accurate.

Having war veterans in charge of a war movie is a fantastic decision. The best people to tell about a war is someone that has actually been to war. This movie is definitely gonna be a standout.
A movie glamorizing invading a country and terrorizing the citizens. Disgusting 🤢
This wasn't a "war" this was an evil, illegal invasion.
Well, if they're actually apologetic and not psychos. Most of my friends would never wanna go back. Both my grandpas who fought in WW2 would not even talk about it and would tell their kids not to join.
Not really. They tend to leave out the parts where they tortured, r*ped, murdered, and pillaged the civilians while painting themselves as heroes.
It is if you want one side to be painted in the best light possible
It showed the seals as humans rather than super humans, they get rattled they get concussed & disoriented, they panic, very good 10/10 film.
Exactly. Not all special forces branches are badass all the time in a WARZONE. They are human and will break. Many special forces units from every branch have been known to break in a warzone
This movie makes me want to rewatch Black Hawk Down and Generation Kill.
Generation Kill doesn’t get the love it deserves. Next time you watch the series wear headphones. The background chatter you don’t really hear unless you’re wearing headphones is funnier than the main dialogue.

You have to see this in theaters!! Such a great movie and the sound is amazing
Alex has become my favorite director and creative since David Lynch passed👽🙏
One of those movies with virtually no wasted screen time, nothing that makes you roll your eyes, and even for me (someone who has worked in trauma surgery and who has been in and out of cadaver labs) legitimately scray and in some ways grotesque. Nothing too serious though, if you could watch SPR, you can watch this. It's just the way that they act. The acting in this movie is insane.
Wdym this movies is so bad and there is a lot of wasted time in the movie 😂
This is exactly the opinion i was looking for. I dont know if I could take my pregnant wife to watch it. Don't want to stress her our too much. The horrors everybody is talking about is because of the gore of torn legs and such or is it non stop screams of agony??
@@hu2mberto yeah I wouldn't take a pregnant wife or anyone who might be adversely affected by anxiety to see this film. If it does anything, it gives you a sense of anxiety. A good reason for that is because you don't know if someone's going to get shot in the face right in front of you, out of the blue. And there are those shocking moments.

This was an excellently filmed movie. My hat off to the director, as a Marine Corps infantry veteran this movie made me shed so many tears I couldn’t control myself. It’s so so sad the impact of this war not only on our troops but the Iraqi people. Without spoilers the scenes with the injured troops had me in tears. Amazing directing, I never want to watch this movie again.
Nice to see Cosmo Jarvis again after Shogun
Agree! He's all over the place these days and was spot-on as Elliott in this one. I thought the entire cast worked together well, making the brotherhood believable and not just Hollywood hero crap.
My first time watching a modern war movie that is actually unforgettable.
This film does the best job at "un-glorifying" war than any film i have ever seen. It was an absolute masterpiece, in my opinion. I know that plenty of people walked into the theatre expecting a fast-paced, exciting action film, but they got a terrifying 90 minutes of what this war was like. By no means am I claiming that I have been through, or felt what these soldiers felt during their service, but if even a film depiction of it can make me scared shitless, then I dont even want to imagine what these guys went through. Easily a 10/10 film.
I just watched this movie. Visceral, ground, with big attention to details. Every move is important. Wow, I'm impressed.
Saw it yesterday. Loved it! 5 stars.

Honestly 😂@@marchellesmith88
I just watched Warfare by Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza. The most amazing and unusual thing is the background, as the co-director is one of those who was present during the war operation that went wrong. No Hollywood clichés, just raw and brutal hyperrealism. Without exaggerating, I wanted to see it again immediately after it ended. There's so much tension at all times; you don't know what's going to happen... You feel present, like one of the team. And above all, the real-time replication of everything is worthy of recognition. Also, after watching a BTS, I realized the cast underwent 21 days of military training!
We hope this is the beginning of a saga; that Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland will be able to portray other true veteran stories with the same tension and intensity. I find it highly unlikely; but wow, I'm still amazed!
What an amazing movie!!!! Straight to the point no fluff and the show of force let me tell you….. epic!!
A24 never disappoints.
Reviews describe the film as NOT being a glorification of the military or war propaganda, which is great. Can't stand military propaganda films. Very refreshing to read and worth a watch. I'll look forward to seeing it!
Yea dont listen to those comments, saw an early screening of it last night with an open mind and what I saw was truly haunting. Came out of that theatre a different person I'll leave it at that.
It's still 100% from the POV of the invading US soldiers. The 'enemy' is dehumanised and civilians aren't even seen. Still a propaganda movie.
I suppose choices like having no soundtrack means you can't put sad music over the soldiers dying and enemy music over the attacking locals. But there's not really such a thing as a "non-glorification" of war when it comes to entertainment media such as movies and games when they centre wholly around the combat side of it. If the movie was about a PTSD soldier's struggles after returning home, that would be anti-war. But people watch a combat movie like BHD or Warfare FOR the combat. They want to see it and experience the chaos of it but in a safe cinema location. It is always war for entertainment even if the camera doesn't linger soulfully over the American flag now and then.
@@VuotoPneumaNNno it’s not. they clearly show how terrified the family living in the house were during the firefight
@@VuotoPneumaNNNot sure how the US soldiers are glorified. First of all, they take the family hostage and literally keep them in the building during the entire battle. It makes clear that they didn’t care too much for their life. You also have the two Iraqi soldiers basically sent to their death. On top of that, the entire squad breaks down. The CO has a mental breakdown and so do a few others. Nothing propaganda about this film. It’s just an objective portrayal of a battle from the POV of a seal team. Try to spin it harder
Not taking away from this movie at all, but it’s about time for Hollywood to make a movie about John Chapman. That man is a hero.
I swear they were making a movie bout him
Walking out of that theatre, the adrenaline high felt weird and intense. Took a while to come down. Be warned!

Hats off to the movie team 🙏🙏🙏
No character development. No soundtrack. No real distinction between the Marines and the Navy SEALs. Excessive gore. Scenes of long, awkward silence. Fear, reluctance, indecision, and even an inability to cope with reality on the part of the troops. And these things were all intentional - a design element of the film. The people who made this film wanted their audience to be uncomfortable, uneasy, and perhaps even a bit angry. The last thing they wanted to do was create a movie that aroused any sense of patriotism in their viewing audience. They were determined that this would not be a Blackhawk Down type of movie that encouraged patriotic-minded young men to head down to their local recruitment office and sign up. No, the people who made this film were more interested in manipulating you emotionally - giving you a little cinematic PTSD - than they were in making a good, entertaining movie. When film critics rave about a movie, it's usually a sure bet that the film is a real stinker.
This isn't really a war movie - it's an anti-American, unpatriotic, anti-war movie. It is an overly hyped, piece of leftist Hollywood crap masquerading as cinematic sophistIcation. As far as I can tell, this is the first honest review of this film in the comments section. Save your money and spend your evening watching Blackhawk Down, 13 Hours, or any John Wayne war movie.
Terrific and terrifying movie.
No matter what people say, Garland has put out some of the greatest films ever made...
We have Saving Private Ryan which emulates a historical battle extremely well, Hacksaw Ridge which sought to portray the story of a historical pacifist marine with some creative liberties and then we have Warfare, a movie that does nothing but portray exactly what happened with no directorial or editorial flair, only what the men who lived that day saw and breathed. Short of a documentary I don't think you can find any movie currently made that matches Warfare in terms of sheer faithfulness to reality.
