I only ever use V power in my 2019 A6 and 2021 Transporter 6.1, so since they were new, but I intend on keeping both vehicles for a good few years. The premium diesels dont do anything by themselves to increase fuel efficiency for diesels, but because they keep them clean and get rid of carbon/soot build up, they ensure they operate optimally, so by proxy, they work out better value. Esso did a test where they ran two lorries over 100k miles, one using standard fuel, the other using premium diesel, took both engines apart, and the one running on premium fuel looked brand new, and the standard fuel one was dirty with excessive build-up.
Avoid supermarket fuel it's shite, has less additives and isn't stored to the highest standards. Morrisons especially was noted for water content. I use Costco Kirkland Premium Diesel in my 335d whenever possible. Cause it claims to be a premium fuel, but costs less than supermarket standard shit. I know there is a lot of bullshit and marketing around this, and times are hard, but cheap supermarket fuel is a false economy!
@@johnshaw8013 I also use Costco diesel and their premium petrol in the cars I run. It’s very good stuff. People who run taxi fleets use Costco diesel and they report really good mileage and reliability from their engines, no EGR or DPF issues

When ever I see this topic talked about most tend to talk about performance and mpg but for me it's about quality and the effects of the additives, if you want to take care of your engine and certain components, injectors, dpf, egr ect then it is most certainly beneficial, you wont have any noticeable improvements on a new/newer engine but if you have an older motor that's been run on cheap crap then use premium then you might feel an improvement but it won't be amazing. With modern injectors, dpf, egr ect costing a lot to have fixed or replaced then using a premium fuel is definitely the smart thing to do unless you change motors often and don't care. I always buy used motors and especially with diesel I throw in an injector cleaner with the first full tank.
Used V power racing (100 octane) In my Alfa 166 V6. Massive difference from regular unleaded. Like giving the old boy a double espresso. Now using v power diesel In my Land Cruiser. Same reason as you, I want to look after it. Can’t say I notice much performance difference, but it runs quieter and smoother and there’s no pungent diesel smell out the exhaust. Shell Club Smart app is excellent too! Enjoyed the vid, thanks.
I bought a bmw 125d 6 years ago, had it in for egr cooler recall so they replaced it and the egr valve free of chrge. Was using Asda diesel and within 6 months it needed the egr valve replacing again as it was coked full of carbon. The mechanic asked if I was using supermarket fuel and blamed that for it going. Been using Vpower diesel every fill up since the. And not had a single problem since. If you use cheaper dieselon modern engines, you’ll regret it.
Using V power since couple of months in Vw Passat done 180k miles , passed mot emissions test straight away as had failed emissions previously also giving better mpg

Out of all the Super Diesels. BP ultimate is the best overall for Diesel. Shell v power for petrol. With BP Ultimate diesel you'll get better fuel system treatment - injecters and less carbon build up vs Shell V power.
I'm an ex Taxi driver and used to drop a worker off at the Fuel Terminal in Grangemouth. He explained it to me. Plus I tried and tested it myself. Fuel economy was very important to us. We found supermarket fuel were knocking off EGR valves for some reason and in PSA cars knocking off injectors. I made the switch to super fuels in 2015. Without doubt BP Ultimate is the best for fuel treatment, shell performance However the way I look at it, if you buy a car brand new and only keeping it 3 years I don't see the point in using superfuels. All your doing it maintaining the car for the next owner at your expense. People like me that will keep a car 5 years and put 100,000s of miles on it, definitely worth it.
Never use anything else. E5 in my old honda bike and premium diesel (probably sounds mental) in my 1.2 diesel suzuki swift! It can't hurt and can only help the old gal in my eyes. I even throw an additive through it every month or so. I use ESSO premium simply because I get 6p off per litre! Good vid. Much appreciated.
I’ve also got the Swift Diesel 2014. Most of my fill ups I tend to use the V Power Diesel, does seem to run a bit better and quieter. Not massive difference but still. Don’t know about yours but often at idle I get a strong diesel smell from the exhaust and this isn’t as bad on V Power 👍
Nice video buddy. Id just like to throw in my experience and research on your subject. I totally agree with you, you get what you pay for, always treat your vehicle with the best of the best with parts, servicings and fuels. I own 2 cars, 1 petrol and 1 diesel. I mainly use the petrol for short hops and the diesel for runs. I know this is a little late in posting of your intersting video but i couldnt resist in throwing my opinion to you as this is a strong topic of mine. The top premium fuels stop engine 'knock' in high mileage engines due to their cleaning properties and agents and are good for maintaing clean injectors, 'this is its main purpose'. They can also give you upto 12% mpg increase and a faster throttle respose on your rev counter under heavy load, 'but this varies by vehicle make and model. This is very important to remember and its not very good news for you as you said your local is a shell but i am just being honest, again due to my years of research on the subject. There are many good premium fuels in the UK im sure but the main 2 i have studied is Shell and BP. While they both cater in premium fuels for petrol and diesel i.e. v-power and ultimate. Cut a long story short, Shell V-Power trumps BP-Ultimate for petrol use and BP-Ultimate trumps Shell V-Power for diesel use, again this is due to the cleaning detergents added into that particular brand. This is not a massive difference but a true fact that i am just putting out there for you. Thanks again for you video. Run you engine on top fuel reguardless of the cost and it will not let you down mate.
Definitely has better addictives in it , my 3.0 diesel merc hates cheap fuel loud diesel knock and dpf regens all the time use shell does none of the above so il stick to that
I try to put the vpower in my Honda hornet or BP ultimate, I favour BP above any other fuel personally but BP & Shell are the top two in my books, forget all that supermarket shite, might aswell fill it up with 30%water & 70% old fuel ha
I use BP Ultimate unleaded in my car as the BP fuel station is the nearest one to me. I'd use Shell if there was a garage closer than 10 miles away. The Shell V Power diesel has a higher cetane rating than normal diesel fuel so it should make the engine perform at its very best and it should be quieter. You can get the same effect using Shell FuelSave diesel and a shot of Millers Diesel Sport 4 fuel additive.
I use shell v power diesel in my van. A few months back I got Morrisons fuel, because I thought I was saving some money. The particulate filter then started blocking up, and I put that down to cheap rubbish fuel. I like to know I am treating the engine well with good fuel in it. It’s not to make it more sporty or anything because it’s a Peugeot partner van and it will never be sporty. Seems to get good miles per gallon. I don’t tend to fill my van up, just get £20 £30 in it a time. One thing I did notice on v power was the low down revs it seems to be better. On the cheap fuel. It feels like it almost stalls when the revs are low. Good to shop around for your v power if possible too. My local garage sells v power at about 7p more than a garage 12 miles away. I include it in a round trip I make somewhere else. But obviously don’t drive further than the pennies you will save getting local fuel.
I put BP ultimate in my two cars, even the smell is totally different, gone are the poisonous chokey diesel fumes to a very clean burning sweeter smell and all the other added benefits like you say, power, mpg, running its all better for the engine too
I only put vpower to pass emissons on my car as i got no dpf or egr valve and i do change the oil filter / oil using castrol other than that asda diesel but its more black smoke

Thanks for watching! Well v power is much more expensive and the price to mileage ratio benefits will vary depending on the vehicle and way you drive. Over it will benefit the vehicle in my opinion long term so you will most likely save on costs for parts etc?
I had used standard diesel, but ti clogged up DPF. Toyota had a strong engine but because of standard diesel it started to drop the speed whilst driving on motorway due the DPF system been clocked up, I had to stop on hard shoulder number of times and call RAC. or drive a car on 30-40 mph on left lane hope over vehicles will overtake, just because DPF was clogged up with soot from standard diesel. I have chosen another vehicle, it was diesel though so I have researched about it and i was I was told I must use Shell V-Power Diesel so it cleans all engine parts as well as DPF from soot build up, also use dpf cleaner every few months, and run a vehicle on motorway for 15 mins on 2000 to 3000 rpm so it heats up and cleans the DPF.

These comments are conflicting really, how do we know that once your car is used to v power it doesn't like change. Many people use supermarket market fuel Asda ,Morrison and Tesco for years with no problems. I see people used to V power switching to so called lesser quality fuel having trouble but not the other way round. Why is this?
It’s all personal preference my friend, people will have different experiences with different types of fuel. There is no right and wrong answer. I care for my vehicles, always will and always have, so to me I don’t mind paying more for vpower as I feel it does benefit. I look at it like fueling your body, if you eat healthy you’ll perform better, look better and more than likely be able to do more as you get older, if you eat unhealthy you’ll probably still live just as long, but you won’t be able to perform as well, you’ll look worse and will deteriorate/drop off as you get older 💪🏻😜
I've put a new DPF in my ol' Mazda3 BL turbodiesel cause the old one died and this time it's V-Power only. I have yet to see it regenerate for the first time, it's been around 5000 miles so far and nothing. Car goes like a bullet, absolutely smooth and without any issues. Will stick to it, especially cause all other fuel brands in my country suck, car hicks up, stalls and stuff like that when using them, but not on V-Power.
I find every vehicle is different. When talking about diesel...well bp has a higher cetane rating than shell..plus the cetane ratings are the same whether it's base diesel or super diesel. The super fuels just have a better cleaning package. My previous cars petrol loved shell vpower 99ron. My last Two diesels were different, one loved cheapo morrisons and the other my current 3.0 diesel loves bp. Anything else it runs lumpy
I have just run a few tanks of Vpower diesel through my old Peugeot 406 while I went and did 1500 miles over Christmas on holiday... It seriously runs a lot better, feels marginally more responsive lower down, you don't seem to have to give it quite as much pedal to get it going. The fuel consumption seems better, BUT I have been doing more motorway driving over Christmas so I'll need to get back into my normal driving routine to know for sure.
Yes mate! 🙏🏼 I love the idea and it’s definitely something I want to do! When the world gets back to “normal” I don’t see why we all can’t make that happen! 🔥 Thanks for the support really appreciate it 💪🏻

Tell that to my old diesel. Zero smoke, almost entirely odourless. That means minimal risk of EGR and DPF problems. Got rid of a hole in the power band on my old car too. Better torque and can use lower revs than on supermarket fuel. Of course if it’s on a lease and going back after 2 or 3 years the benefits are much less obvious since the issues become someone else’s problem.

True Say, the Stage 1 on the MK7 does make difference on the MPG. It runs smoothly gives it more of torque in Gear 2 & 3, 4. Well worth the £200 won’t regret it Nathan...
@@Asgario I’m not saying never, but right now it’s not on my to do list 🤷🏻♂️ I appreciate you guys suggesting things, it’s what all this is about so thank you! I’m rocking a healthy 36mpg at the minute 😜💪🏻🔥
I put e5 v power in my vauxhall corsa . Thinking i would get better fuel economy then e10
Good to hear v power is serving you well 💪🏻 may it long continue! 😁 thanks for watching really appreciate the support
Yep it’s all personal preference 💪🏻
I usually go for Costco Premium diesel. Cheap, lots of miles, and quality fuel.
I’ve not used it before but it’s tempting these days because of the price of fuel ⛽️

If you have one within your city I would definitely recommend getting a membership for it.
All good signs though for sure 💪🏻 thanks for watching man I hope you continue to see good results
@@coswecan have liked and subscribed too 👊

Hi Just found your channel, Great video!! Just recently bought a 2015 custom with 56.000 on the clock. I will give Vpower a try and let you know. Thanks. Just as a matter of interest why did your engine fail on you ?
Thanks for the support man 💪🏻 deffo give vpower a go, I’ve never looked back! Turbo went, engine picked up oil and did internal damage to pistons/cylinders! Did a few videos on this if your interested in having a look back through my older videos on my channel 👍🏻
Shell fuel save has the exact same amount of detergent as shell v power diesel. Pointless paying extra for the same stuff.
149.9 😂 I wish.
SHELL V POWER SMELL MORE THAN OTHER ? OR IS MY IDEA??
I have no idea 🤷🏻♂️
Sooo cheap! In Europa: 1 Liter 2€
It’s similar here now! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Waste of money!
