    The main wizard class for Deadlands is the Huckster.
    Sundered Sky was a great setting.
    My players did not like Rippers too much

      May just be my players, but whenever I get a Huckster it always ends up as Gambit from the X Men meets Doc Holiday :D! Will have to check out Sundered Sky.

      I’ll be honest, Deadlands kinda reminds me of The Dark Tower.

    My parents met at East Texas! I really need to pick that one up. Maybe they'd actually let me run it for them.

    i love savage worlds and our group came here from dnd 3.5, with a short experimenting phase with pf2, dnd 5e, paranoia (now for one-shots), mythras.
    our dm currently runs a renaissance home-brew game but i aspire to dm myself in the future and have found the khoras setting and want to use this for a campaign. and i might try savage pathfinder for this one.

    Sweet top 5. I've been getting into Deadlands lately and it's excellent. I'm hoping to get my hands on the Night Train box when it's finally available. I appreciate the insightful video.

    Good video! Thanks for giving Savage Worlds some love!
    I am a long time TTRPG gamer, and I have found Savage Worlds to be the best system for well-paced, cinematic adventures. In particular, running Savage Worlds at conventions is the best. Not only is the Savage Worlds community composed of Good People, but there's no party like a Savage Saturday Night party! I have run SW for strangers including veteran gamers, players new to SW, and players new to TTRPGs, and no other game can satisfy ALL at the same time as consistently as Savage Worlds. SW isn't perfect (nothing is), but it is the best there is at what it does.
    Also glad to see you giving Suzerain some attention. The Suzerain line is a tragically underrated product and deserves to be on the shelf of any GM who runs any sort of multiverse/cross-genre/dimension-hopping type campaign.
    Thank you for your hard work!

    My top 5 PEG-published SW campaign settings:
    5) Rifts
    4) Pathfinder
    3) Irongate (technically a Last Parsec product, but also a setting all its own).
    2) The Last Parsec
    1) Deadlands

    2 points of interest regarding the Deadlands setting. It is already out for SWADE, the most recent version of Savage Worlds. And there is definitely a wizard option for players, it is the Huckster, and is arguably the most iconic Deadlands archetype. Seems strange it wasn’t mentioned.
    Also, I wholeheartedly agree that East Texas University is an amazing setting, and is currently my favorite.

      Came here to say this. Hucksters are not only a super fun character type to play but are absolutely the hard dps caster of the game

  • @morganpetros9635

    I find it kinda hilarious that Savage Worlds, a game that famously *has no character classes,* put out an adaptation of THE game that has more distinct character classes than any other, and every Savage Worlds RUclipsr seems to simply rave about it. 🤣
    Now, I'm fairly new to the game, but one thing I'd *REALLY* love to do is use the basic rules to recreate the city of Cynosure from the GrimJack comic book series.
    "Sweet, cynical Cynosure, where the dimensions meet ..." 😈😁

    For one, the adventure edition book is out for Deadlands the Weird West.
    Second, ETU is a blast with the right group! It's also just a very creative setting. You can't just carry around a gun, you must get creative with your weapons! Hockysticks, Baseball Bats, Tire Irons, even had a pc use a Pizza Cutter at one point.

    What about Hucksters in Deadlands as spell casters? They literally cast spells from a deck of playing cards.

    Am I crazy? Or why does it seem like nobody plays savage worlds.. it seems really fun. Is this just the reality for any ttrpg thats not DnD or CoC?

    Looking to get into Savage Worlds. Really like the idea of the Pathfinder setting. Mostly interested in fantasy, but....if I also wanted to play Deadlands(or other settings), would I just need the Deadlands supplement or would I also need the generic Savage Worlds rule set?

    • @ChristianPetermann
      @ChristianPetermann 4 месяца назад +1

      You need both books. Savage worlds core rules are the foundation, Deadlands just provides the setting, and some additional mechanics and abilities specific to that setting.

    I was introduced to Savage World games through the RIFTS setting. I had originally roled up a "shifter" class character. I found the content to be interesting. However, I found it also to be very vague. For example, the Leyline concept, by the book they appear to be in pre-established locations. By the rules, your casters must be near these leylines to even use their powers. Furthermore, the shifter class requires a congregation to fuel his abilities. This seems to be limiting at level 1, when you wouldn't have such a thing. In addition, a lot of the skills seem very situational, and unless your DM plans for this, you may never use certain skills. Perhaps you could clear these rules up in another video, provided you haven't already.

  • @starcrafter13terran
    @starcrafter13terran 3 месяца назад +1

    I respectfully disagree with your #5. See, the main problem with rifts was the DM load. There were not average stats for quickly running an encounter as well as how long it took to nuance a new character for players or detailed npcs. An hour is a bit much to spend on a character and the precise mechanics of 3% increase per level vesus 4% increase per level in radio skill which switches from class to class was overcomplication. The edge and hindrance system is a good add on and I like to focus more on the adventure and how the players may enjoy the game rather than rolling 3 checks to see if someone properly uses the radio or knows how to speak goblinese. If you're unemployed and single, go ahead and GM rifts thru palladium. If you're not, avoid the original system.
