That's the last of the tutorials for 2023. I had planned on doing 12, but it looks like I ended up doing 14, so that's 2 bonus ones for you :) A big thanks to everyone who has been following along. I look forward to seeing all your work in the future! I'll be focusing on SotN for the rest of this year and will continue the tutorials in early 2024. I'll release a video later this month discussing everything.
@@GimblyGFR I'll do an FAQ video in the next couple of weeks. I'm going to take a break from the videos after that and should begin to upload SotN updates in the autumn
Thanks! I've been aiming to show the logical process behind writing the code rather than just trying to give a template. That way people can then use it as a starting point and continue to develop it themselves.
@@PigsysRetroGameDevTutorials Yeah, I think if you just gave people the optimal way of doing things (if there is such a thing) right off the bat, they'd just copy what you did. By showing a seemingly functional method, then showing the issues with it, then how to address those issues, hopefully you're teaching us something about the sort of problem solving that I think makes up a large portion of coding. That's a good way to teach imo. Can't wait to see your progress on the Castlevania SotN demake for the rest of the year.
@@GreyMatterShades People seem to be enjoying the tutorials and I know a few people who have already used them as a launching point to begin making some games, so hopefully we'll start to see the results of those in the future. I've already restarted work on SotN and hope to have some nice progress to show later this year. It's good to have the time to be able to work on it again :)
@@PigsysRetroGameDevTutorials Yeah I'm hopeful we'll see some games come out of these tutorials. They've certainly given me some ideas, but now I just need to get off my ass and actually make one of them happen 😅 Glad you get to focus on SotN for a while. Must be nice to return to a passion project and start making progress again.
Thanks! That was the final tutorial for this year, so I'll be spending the rest of my time on Castlevania from now on. I'll give an update as soon as it is ready
Sorry, but I don't think I'll be covering 32X development at any point in the near future. I'll just be focussing on SGDK, as there is still so much left to learn/teach about the base Mega Drive
I don't think so. Last I checked, Sega CD wasn't supported by SGDK, but I hope that changes in the future. I'd love to see what modern indie devs could do with the Sega CD hardware (as well as 32X). Also, Sega CD support would make it a lot cheaper for indies to manufacture and distribute physical copies of their games. So 🤞
Unfortunately, as GreyMatterShades pointed out, SGDK is for the base console only. Hopefully we'll get MCD support at some point in the future, but who knows!

Well, thank you very much for all the lessons you uploaded this year. It was a phenomenal work. Are you taking vacations from uploading videos?

@@PigsysRetroGameDevTutorials You deserve that break! We'll be waiting here when you start uploading again.
Thanks so much for doing these, never delete them please! I followed along on the first few and am planning to get back to it again, soon :)
You're welcome! Don't worry, I have no plans to ever delete them, so they should still be here whenever you are ready to study :)
Your work is so great. I promise myself that I will follow these tutorials one day!
Thanks! It's not so hard, you just have to take things step by step. I hope you find the time to do some game dev in the future
Man you are awesome, all your works are great and the help you gave to the retro scene is gold. I love you.
Great job as always. You did an awesome job explaining some of the issues with different ways of coding this, and how you can get around them.

FINALLY pigsy is back!!!
Thanks for the welcome back, but I didn't go anywhere, haha (I've been pretty much uploading weekly for the past 4 months now)
Awesome stuff as always
Thanks!
excellent job. I'm looking forward to the video about slopes
Thanks! I've finished the tutorials for this year, but I'll cover slopes in next years batch
@@PigsysRetroGameDevTutorials Thanks! I will be waiting
Thanks, dude.
You're welcome :)
Buen tutorial, cuando tendremos novedades de Castlevania?

for the next tutorial, could you please show how to do slopes
Admiro tú trabajo,dónde puedo aprender a utilizar las herramientas del sgdk ?
Just follow the tutorials in the playlist and you should have no problem learning. Good luck!
Next year, could you try and make lessons on 32X development with marsdev?

Thanks!
