Hi Leila.. thanks for the fun IFS and emoji formulas. In case anyone is interested, when using IFS, you can also terminate the final test with any non-zero numeral such as 1, as in: =IFS(B6>$C$3,"Higher",B6
i just wanna thank you .. 2 years ago i didnt have any knowledge about excel.... and not be confident at all... i love your vedios ... after one year im revising everything and i have forgot many of the notes for sure:> but you are great i really enjoy your tuturials
Leila -- Thank you for clueing me in to the use of F9 to check results within formulas. While the use of F9 function is not the purpose of your video, it is the gift I took away with me. And of course, a refresher on IFS is much appreciated too. Your tutorials are always helpful and enriching in direct and unexpected ways. As a student, I don't always know where to start asking questions but a gifted teacher helps me form my own questions. You are awesome!
Leila, well done on showing that IF/IFS could often be better performed by a VLOOKUP. So many people use a complex IF/IFS when a simple VLOOKUP is the best solution. Even Microsoft's video on IFS would be far, far better as a VLOOKUP.
What a way to start my morning! Though that might sound geeky, but there’s nothing better than starting the day learning something new and short. Thanks! I’m a huge fan.
@Mikkysing26 aTHEist Thanks a lot! Indeed, not available for 2016. As we all figured out so far, Microsoft will stop updating any other version of office except 365. Everybody is hunting for subscriptions in favor of lifetime paid licenses. Reason is obvious. Sooner or later , almost everybody who wants Office ,will comply. The truth is, strictly from my POW, the benefits of only dynamic arrays and LET function are IMENSE. I can not understand how I was able to "excel" before that. If time is money, the amount of time you can save, pays the bill, twice. (average and heavy users). Peace ! Let's ask Leila her opinion too. 😉🙏
This channel is my “go to” place whenever I think ‘there must be a better way to do this since I learnt excel 32 years ago’ 😀 Also enjoy how you learn or refresh yourself on another function - in this case conditional formatting. Relevant to the solutions well.. Thank you
Hi Leila, so cute... thank you I am somehow addicted to your videos and I think the time I spent with your courses is more than what I spent with my family.
I am new subscriber of your channel. I have been watching all of your videos since March and find all the videos full of new resources.thank you so much Leila Ma'am. I am grateful to be a part of your channel.
This is really good. Working in an bigger organization however takes away so much of the fun from new functions in Excel, as it sometimes can take REAL TIME until colleagues / other users have them available..
I've been using the IFS function for a while now, but when I first found it, it was such a revelation for me; a real game-changer. This is great content that is going to help out a lot of people. I have recommended your videos to so many people as you always have great content that is easy to explain.
This is great. You have a very clear and easy to understand approach, and the video quality is exceptional. I once had a spread sheet that had 9 IF’s in each cell, it drove me nuts. And I was the one who created it.
I am always surprised how easy and convenient you explain it. You always give me a lot of job satisfaction when I can use one of your useful tips again.
Hello Leila, I'm from Egypt I'd like to thank you for your fruitful ideas. I learnt more from your courses. I've already joined the course in the title "Excel Essentials for the Real World", it won't be the last one. I've never gained experience such this.
What a fantastic tutorial. Thank you very much, this video has been the last after advice searching, and thanks to you I understand it much better. The speed, the clarity, the overall quality of your content is outstanding.
LOVE IT ! I was shy to use IFS because I didn’t know how to deal with the falses and didn’t bother to research it. I ‘m always looking forward to your Thursday videos. Thank you Leila !
Is it weird that I enjoy hearing your voice/ accent and they keep me engaged to watching and learning from your videos. I came to learn VBA recently from your channel, and ended up subscribing to learn more because you trully are a good teacher and your content is very nicely presented and thorough whilst making the complex bits really easy to understand..
The most amazing 😍 part to me is that I never know boolean can be used in formula as it in VBA! It brings so much idea to me that how my projects can be improved, Thank you Leila!
@@codingsafari I've been on both sides of that. I like stored procedures and functions but our programmers are doing more in code now days. That's probably a result of the new technology in programming though.
I have to agree with all of the sentiments already written. IFS is going to be a great tool in the future. SO much simpler than nested IF functions. I foresee this formula easily being included in my regular arsenal of tools!
Hi Leila!Great Tutorial,I Find The IFS Function So Much Easier To Write Compared To The Nested IF Formula.Love The Bonus Tip With VLOOKUP And XLOOKUP..Thank You :)
Once again, a well delivered lecture/lesson. 👍. I always look forward to your videos every week with the assurance that you won't disappoint by increasing my knowledge of Excel. Thanks and keep it up.
Tbh I have found nested if’s are nearly always used where using hlookup or index|match is simpler and more flexible. The arrays/ranges I place in a hidden sheet i always call “ref”. The examples in this video are perfect examples to try it out. You’ll see what i mean if you do :) Peace.
@@LeilaGharani It was unfortunate that I got to know about your channel very late but I have viewed almost all your videos ever since. It has helped me develop a complete system in my factory that records the attendance of more than 250 employees, keeps their wages records, monitor my production and also analyze the cost incurred on each product and that too with near 100% accuracy. I utilized the entire lockdown period but achieved what I intended to do finally. All your videos were of great help. I even invested in subscribing to Office 365 (prior to that I was using Office 2019). Thanks a ton.
I thank you very much, you really changed my life, I hope you would one day talk about the xml files and how to deal with them by excel. Thank you very much, you really do a great job
From my understanding, the only issue with the IFS function is it can be negative for performance because each argument is read no matter what, whereas using nested IFs means only the first argument to equal TRUE is considered.
As usual, learnt so many new things! Keep up the great work Leila, you have a lifetime fan here! 😊(This emoji is not driven by IFS! it will be constant!)
You have taught easyest method but in real LIFE we have to understand MORE complex and mix formulas which ARE create by others PLEASE teach HOW to understand MORE complex formulas in easyeast WAY which ARE written in VERY lengthy AND ARE mixed ALSO. Thanks You

4:00 THANK YOU! I have tried watching several videos trying to understand what the last catch all TRUE means, and you explained it perfectly.
My target to see daily one video of yours and am lot of improvements in my routine excel usage
I hope they'll be helpful for you.

i have not tried yet but if one of the criteria cells have error, you will probably get "same" too.

=LET(arr,B6:B13,c,C3,SWITCH(TRUE,arr>c,"Higher",arr

Excellent explanation and outstanding demonstration. Hats off Leila!
Superb functionality with matching explanation
very nice example of using IFS in Excel, love the emoji concept too 😍
Nice explanation as always. For users of international versions, IFS in the Dutch version is called "als.voorwaarden" (if.conditions)
Thanks Rene!
Thanks for the great and straight to the point explanation!
Another couple of functions I can definitely see myself using in the future and some great tips too. Thanks again Leila! You're a star :)

Amazing video, so cool to use emojis. An alternative could be also SWICH function. In cell C6 for example
=SWITCH(TRUE,B6>$C$3,"Higher",B6
Ok, I'm all in. I love your videos. I'm still not sure how I can make nested ifs leaner using xlookup, but I'm going to look at that next.
I have learned so much from you. Thank you so so much. OMG I was just thinking about the xlookup I love it.
