Great video man🎣 Love the tips your doing lately! I’m a spinning rod guy myself mostly fishing a kayak or the banks.Just got the new P5 Landsat F3-611xs and it’s amazing! It’s my first megabass rod and definitely won’t be my last 🔥
Awesome video man! I’m in the market for a budget baitcaster jerkbait setup and wondering your thoughts on a Daiwa Feugo 6’9” regular action with a 6.3 Fuego reel? Would ideally double as a close quarters cranking set up too. Cheers! 🤜🏻
Good Video Nick! Love the tip about mono vs floro in those shallow water situations. I am going to try that! Wondering if you can outline how you go about choosing colours for your jerkbaits. Are you always matching the hatch and have one VERY DIFFERENT colour scheme or what? Also, where does colour choice fall in order of importance when you are jerkbait fishing? Ex. is depth 1st or most important, action 2nd and colour 3rd...or something else? Would love to know your mindset here. We fish alot on the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie and the Niagara has a very specific colour that we have found is more effective in general then all other colours, but we have not applied it to jerkbaits to see if we hook up more. Thanks for all your efforts and advice.
Thanks for the feedback. Actually color and depth are big conversations, so Im putting a video together about that. Should be dropping early to mid next week!
In your series of jerkbait videos you mentioned more than once regarding in Merke or dirty water they were better options than the jerkbait briefly what would those be in your opinion some of the lakes a fish are not crystal clear like Lake Ontario or the other lake You described earlier? Mainly early-season cold water time of year I’m curious about water from 40 to 50°
Paddle tail Swimbait crawled along the bottom is great or a crankbait fished slow and I also add a little weight so they don't float up as easily. Blade bait or lippless crank another is another great choice.
Ya man, I grew up fishing spinning only. Over time i saw the value in adding baitcasters, but honestly its a preference thing! When i talk to the product manager at Megabass, he talks about how some of the baitcasters have been built specifically for the 110. jerkbait and I've seen the difference so, no doubt its true, but i also think everyone fishes them differently. Whatever floats your boat.
@@smallmouthmaster oh for sure... its definitely a preference thing. Ill have to give casting reels another try. Others swear by them as well. And I've seen some of those Diawa Megabass ITO reels 😵 dangerous territory to get into lol Thanks for your reply!
I wanted your opinion! which rod model would be better for the bait I want to use? The bait I want to use is regular 110 and 110 jr+1 The rod models available in stock are Megabass Levante Jerkbait Special And F4.5-610K Black Elseil II 6'10"!Thank you so much for your help!"
Thanks Man. Actually, the Kage and Tatula are the same except for handle! on the Kage is extra money! Kage MQ i hear is good, but i haven't seen one yet.
I switch the spinning gear in the summer when i need longer casts to get the bait further away from the boat in clear water. The thinner braid also gives the bait a wider action.
@@smallmouthmaster Shoot. I just ordered this rod. I don't like the tip TOO slow. Hopefully I like it. Do you have the new Levantes or the last model that they pulled off the shelves?
@@Twangtown7 Ya there was an issue with the first blank but they rectified the issue. the levante is a little slower than the XX. Do you use fluoro or braid?
@@smallmouthmaster I was planning on 12# fluoro. I mostly fish jerkbaits spring and fall. So for summer I planned on switching to mono or copoly and use this rod for topwaters...mostly poppers, walking baits, smaller whopper ploppers. What's your opinion on the rod for those presentations. I know Megabass lists it's secondary application as topwater. Thanks.
You know what they say “ the 20th time is a charm” ! Oh and it was charming . Good video once again 👏😀🎣🕺
haha. thank you!
Well spoken. Great video. Earned a new subscriber.
Hey thanks so much!!
Good stuff...you’ve got it dialed in. Subbed

Thanks for the tips. I've been looking at that Levante rod. Appreciate you breaking it all down.
Appreciate the comment!

Thanks Man. Ya i like that setup. You wont be able to cast big cranks, but anything 1/2oz and lighter will be good!

Id like to hear more about the carbon head cyclone. Would it be ok to throw s crank 1.5-2.0 as well as the 110 and 110 jr?
Yes the carbon head will be nice. It's a pimped out version of my JDM destroyer. It's soft but very responsive!! One of my favs for sure!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Was looking at a do-everything Megabass medium power rod. Do you think a cyclone would be a good choice to throw topwaters jerkbaits and balsa cranks?
yes, love that stick!!
I prefer spinning setups for jerkbaits. Big believer in a quality drag system when dealing with those light hooks 😨

Levante jerkbait special is an aweosme choice man. I have option to use almost anything Megabass has and that new Levante is one of my favs.

I didn’t catch why you switch to spinning in summer? Is that just to downsize your line/lures?
I switch the spinning gear in the summer when i need longer casts to get the bait further away from the boat in clear water. The thinner braid also gives the bait a wider action.
Actually the Jerkbait Special IS a fast action.
Yes but not a typical North American Fast. : )
buts thanks for that.
