I’m still not sure why you put the netting over it? Or is it on the back??

You are right Cheryl, this IS fun. I love the little postcard sized pomegranates I made using your instructions from the magazine and your cutting guide. I would NOT want to try this without the cutting guide! You've made a nice selection of mini mosaic kits and patterns. I'm tempted by several. :-)

This looks like a really fun combination of puzzles with fabric and quilting. I love your art and your colour selections, Cheryl! I'd suggest adding links to your Etsy shop right in the "Description" drop-down section just below your video, to make shopping for your kits and notions very easy. Thanks for the tutorial.

thank you for putting together this video! I saw your mag article last year, I have this on my short list of 'to do' projects. Plus this technique is a great way to use scraps :-)

Cheryl. I love this but I don't know if I could do this. You are so clever to make the cutter. Genius!

I wonder how the mosaics would look if you used a DARK fabric for the grout?? Love them all!!

Oh my goodness, I love this!!! I don't understand how it gets quilted.

Edith DiMuro It is a ton of fun. After you finish laying all the squares, steam it, remove the paper backing, you layer it like a quilt and cover it with netting. Then you quilt it. The pattern/kits come with instructions.

Edith DiMuro The netting is placed over the mosaic and then layered with batting and backing. I use monofilament thread to then quilt in the “grout” lines, ie the spaces between the small squares.

El mosaico es solo con el pegante del papel o se acolcha gracias un abrazo desde mi Colombia

I don’t understand the part of the sticky paper which one you put on back and on top? Because there is one with yellow squares on it. That goes on top? There are instructions with the pattern but I’m still confused. Thanks

Both sides of the sticky paper are the same. Whichever paper comes off is ok, whether it’s the plain one or the one with yellow squares. The sticky side of the paper should face up and is the side where you place the small squares of fabric.

I love these and I would like to do these, but I'm baffled by a couple of things. I'm trying to wrap my head around this first.
    1. How do the squares stay together after you peel off the sticky paper. Unless I missed something, there's nothing holding them together.
    2. What is the purpose of the netting? Is it to keep the tiles from possibly shifting during or after quilting in the grout?

Laura Hyde Glad you have an interest in My Mini Mosaic technique. The patterns/kits come with instructions for steaming that keep the little squares in place. The netting unifies the piece and makes it easier to quilt!

Cheryl, I can't wait for your class at the Hershey Quilt Show. Will you have all the tiny squares cut or will we need to do that? Will the giraffe pattern be available for class? I just stumbled across your video and I see it was just posted recently. It is fabulous. I am so excited.

I'm looking forward to the Hershey class too. I will pre cut the batiks into the 3/8" squares for class, so you don't have to. They are included in the kit fee. The class includes patterns for a pomegranate, pear, flowers, village, bird and a heart. The giraffe pattern will be available for sale at the end of class.

Did I miss it or is there no sewing to the mini quilts?

After the pieces are fused, the mosaic is layered with batting, backing and netting and quilted. The complete instructions come with the kits.
