Very well done. I wired mine internally as well, no cheesy looking PVC pipe sticking down into the water. I kept my transducer internal Inside the hull. Bed it in a piece of 3M foam, and get it wet prior to launch and it works right through the hull. Only drawback, takes a while to get a proper temperature reading. My battery: under the seat. You did a great job.
Awesome! Seems like you did a great job yourself buddy. I had the transducer ran through hull on my previous kayak, it did the job but I wanted more accurate readings this time around. Thanks for watching!
@@BrensFishingLife My 130 HDII is on the way :) I watched a lot of videos but yours was key to my decision. Hard to find these days but West Marine carries them and, amazingly, still ships for only $99.
Hey Bren, your videos have motivated me to try kayak fishing down at Willow Beach. Are there any other kayaks on the market today that you would recommend for a beginner yak fisher? What are the main features you look for to fish lake Mead and Mohave? What features do you think are not as important for our area? Thanks and keep catching.
Very nice video dude , totally impressed ,nice workmanship on your set up there. I have one and the shaft on mine broke same spot as yours fifth time out. I called pelican they sent me a complete brand new Drive and two new shafts in seven days. Hopefully I won’t have any more problems but I do have a complete spare drive. Haven’t really thought about putting a fishfinder on mine , but looking at your set up , I’m definitely considering it . Good luck fishing.
Hey thanks a lot ray! Really appreciate you watching it. You should be good from here on out with the new drive. I haven't had any issues with my most recent drive. I made myself a spare drive also just incase lol. You should definitely consider the fish finder. I use it mainly for depth, to find structure and also to see how fast I'm going for trolling purposes. Thanks again for watching brotha. And tight lines out there!
Broke a drive, what does pelican need in order to get new parts or new drive? Cause one of my mast broke and I’m thinking about hitting pelican up. Should I take pics of the broken pieces?
Great video. These are priced very well. And i can get 2 for the price of one Hobie. I bought lakefront property last year so now i want a couple kayaks to enjoy some fishing. Would you recommend this for a person that has not kayak fished before?
Hey, thanks for checking it out. Yes I would definitely recommend this kayak for a beginner yak fisherman. Pelican actually has a new version of this kayak the catch 130 HD II. Basically the same thing with a few improvements. And if you don't want a 12.5ft kayak. They came out with a smaller version, the catch 110 HD II. Very stable kayaks.
@@BrensFishingLife Im gonna get these kayaks and practice a while till the fishing ban is lifted here in Washington state. Thank you for the info and the great video. Subscribing now 🤙🏽
@@Stay-vigilant Awesome! Hopefully you can find someone that will ship them to ya 🤞. That's such a bummer to hear about a fishing ban. Fishing on a kayak is the ultimate social distancing I feel..... Well thanks for the support bud, feel free to ask away if you have any more questions.
The drive issues that you have....this is where Hobie reigns supreme with years of experience in the hardware. Although Pelican has hit the value/price proposition really well and the stiffness of their hull material seems to be harder than Hobies at around the same weight. How do you think it would compare to the Hobie Mirage Passport 12? I know the Hobies sit lower in the water so the stability is pretty good. Any updates on the drive situation?
Sorry for the late response. Yes Hobie is much better. Pelican still has not fixed the drive problems. Its pretty sad, but hey i have a bunch of back up drives!
Have You had any problems with knocking the transducer off or dragging it on the bottom? If I could have it mounted like you have it and have no problem with dragging it I’ll be probably purchasing this kayak! Thanks in advance
Sorry for the reply buddy. Been a busy week, but If you have the Garmin striker 4 transducer than you will have no issues. It doesn't ever get touched where its at.
I just saw a video from another pelican 130 owner who had four on him break and he received the HDII. He said they are now sending the new one if your old one breaks.
Hi Bren I bit the Bullet as well Up here in Canada it was a little more 2400$ and I am doing the same as you have done. I really like your Vidos I have one Question : What size of the Battery hatch you added Thanks

@@glenndavis6120 cheaper but I think it's cause it doesn't come with the peddle system and you have to get them separately, which will be a hefty price on top of the original price of the kayak anyway.
